Finally having Cavill play Superman instead of “unhappy space alien wearing Superman’s outfit” was really nice, I thought. It made me overlook a lot of the movie’s faults.

Justice League is not quite as bad as X-Men Apocalypse, but, then, few things are. Except Dark Phoenix. It may be Fox’s Marvel rock bottom, though that’s a tough fight with X-Men Origins: Wolverine and X-Men: The Last Stand which, not coincidentally, is another version of the Dark Phoenix story. Honestly, I feel like…
I’ve been posting about this on io9 for a while, There are numbers between 10 and 2 when rating movies. flawed movies aren’t all bad, some are just ok, some are actually good in spite of flaws. It doesn’t get clicks so they don’t just say meh. JL was a decent movie, you can lean good, or just ok, but it’s not awful.…
It’s absolutely better than Apocalypse.
However, I also seriously doubt that the casting of Giancarlo Esposito, Janina Gavankar, and other actors of color as Imperial officers is being used to make a comment on modern white supremacy. I’m being highly skeptical and assuming Disney just wants to appear as apolitical as possible.
Oddly enough, the best part is also the same as the best part of this movie: when the speedster runs real fast while things are slow.
Ok, so you didn’t even read my post. That is how little you actually care about this topic. Understood.
“ If everyone on Earth was Caucasian, they’d find another even more superficial point of differentiation to discriminate over.”
Yeah, if anything, Disney ethnically diversifying the Empire/First Order feels like a hedging measure more than anything.
Singer didn't direct Dark Phoenix. Simon Kinberg, the writer of X3: The Last Stand, did. It was its directorial debut.
Honestly, I give Dark Phoenix a leg up on this one. I went in with rock bottom expectations and may have watched it under the influence but when the credits rolled... I wasn’t mad I watched it. It wasn’t GOOD but it was better than Last Stand and Apocalypse (which is bottom of the barrel for me).
Jedi came out in 2016? what?
Agreed. Justice League is absolutely not as bad as Apocalypse. It’s generic and forgettable but also basically fun and the plot more or less makes sense from scene to scene. And as you said, once he comes back to his sense the Superman in JL actually ACTS LIKE SUPERMAN. Like he’s a nice guy who wants to help people.
Apocalypse powers them all up by amplifying Storm’s weather control, replacing Angel’s bird wings with metal wings that also shoot blades
Because he doesn't understand the characters and vehemently dislikes the source material and happened to get lucky on a couple of scripts and storylines. DoFP is also not that great of a movie but it centers on Wolverine and at least has somewhat of a plot.
Don’t stare at tits, crotches or asses. Generally good SOP to follow.
Batman disapproves of this.
“Rocksteady did not immediately respond to a request by Kotaku for comment.” What does this mean anyways? You gave them 1 hour to respond?
I saw on Twitter that a former staff member alleged that Kotaku is all talk and doesn’t have a good work place environment at all and the staff don’t really support POC or Women.
Not really surprised at all. I like the Arkham games overall but they have serious bro-y vibes.
