That’s true; my “criminally culpable” comment was overzealous. I still believe two things can be true: Gutierrez-Reed WAS negligent and responsible for her actions... and the producers’ penny-pinching and disregard for safety standards all but ensured an accident would happen.

It’s not a defense; it’s a fact. I think more people are criminally culpable than just her.

I mostly agree, but part of the issue is that the industry standards work when they’re followed. Accidents happen when the crew is rushing and ignores those standards, like hiring two full-time armorers for a production like Rust.

I’ll happily defer to your client/friend’s knowledge. I could be completely wrong, but I get the impression that the producers are trying to paint a picture of a young woman being given a fair shot at a high-responsibility role that she couldn’t handle, therefore she somehow misrepresented herself to the producers

The film was originally budgeted to have a full-time armorer, but to save money the producers combined that job with a prop assistant role. My understanding is that the new budget called for whoever they hired to be paid the hourly rate for an armorer half the time (not sure if week or day) and the prop assistant rate

while acknowledging defense assertions that a gun-heavy production such as Rust should have had two armorers on set, rather than the part-time position Gutierrez-Reed was working … Carpenter asserted that, ultimately, gun safety on the set was her responsibility. “If that is not something you feel capable of doing,

Works for me

Oh yeah. That’s Florida Joker.

RIP man

Thandiwe Newton shared a story about working with Cruise on M:I-2 where it sounds like she perceived him as taking out his frustration on her. I can’t really remember how it got resolved, but he’s definitely capable of getting that intense. But to your point, he does seem to care about his cast and crew.

Oh, I thought there was zero chance it was the Rock because the person was complaining that Rebecca was ruining their performance.

Not saying it does (just like movies and TV shows don’t always get pulled down from streaming), just pointing out that older titles on DVD are liable to suffer from it.

Makes sense. My kid asked me to buy them a Doink-It because they told me all the kids at school said owning one was the only way to prove that they weren’t a baby.

Unless you own your favorite show or movie on DVD or some other form of physical media, it’s always liable to blink out of existence forever.

Every time I read a headline like this, my first thought is always, “What did the paparazzi do?”

My immediate thought when I read the news was, ‘Well audiences hated this character during the first season and they brought them back for the second season anyway. Who’s to say the writers simply don’t care what the audience think?’

I don’t care what side of the political aisle you’re on, watching him on SNL made me wonder if he was fired for things he said in the past or because he’s a pretty shitty sketch performer. His monologue delivery (I didn’t really have a problem with the content itself) was pretty mid too.

I’ve criticized the show for repeating stories from earlier seasons, but as far as “Larry is concerned his therapist is sharing Larry’s problems with other people,” I’d give this episode an edge over the last time. And it’s not easy to beat “The director of Star Wars enjoyed sex with hookers.”

The problem is we read vertically.
