Loved it. Quite possibly my fave baseball movie ever.

Hey Buzz, where's your beloved Kiss?

Agreed. But Buzz's band paid tribute to those 4 albums so I doubt he'll say anything negative. Although Kiss blew it after those albums, as well.

Also, while Lennon was a suburban husband and McCartney was in his pre-Linda days, it was the latter who was the man about London catching experimental shows and plays, shopping at the groovy bookstores and digging the avant garde, which Lennon famously said was "French for bullshit".

Very eloquently put, Martha, my dear. [wink]
Tho, I don't share your love for II, outside of "Coming Up" (hate, hate, hate the live versions) and "Waterfalls". (And if in the middle of a heated argument someone were to play "Temporary Secretary" I might go on a murderous rampage.)

I heard an identical version of the story in which it's Ginger Baker coyly complimenting him on the drumming on the whole album.

Yeah, in a way—and perhaps unfairly, I might add—I think of the '80s as McCartney's musical lost weekend: He got experimental (McCartney II); lost (Give My Regards to Broad Street); tried to get with the times (Press to Play); and had the mostly sappy collaborations (Jackson, Stevie Wonder). But he finally got back on

Wish I could remember the quote. "Both of them jet-setting from hotel to hotel, putting on bedroom events as if they'd invented peace wholesale…" or something like that.

I imagine I won't like this opera half as much as I liked the anecdote about your late brother-in-law. Seriously.

Dunno how "next door" a beauty queen can be.

Yeah, except the quality of Harrison's solo material fell quite abruptly. And if Lennon were still alive, I would bet his output would not be the recipient of such glowing adoration.

They passionately hated Black Sabbath and Led Zeppelin, especially the latter. Also, Chuck M. Young's review of the first VH album is comically off the mark:
"Mark my words: in three years, Van Halen is going to be fat and
self-indulgent and disgusting, and they'll follow Deep Purple and Led
Zeppelin right into the

Supposedly, Ginger Baker gave him props for his drumming on BotR. Even if it was Baker being nice—which is unfathomable, ha!—Macca probably really appreciated it.

I'm not crazy about "Take it Away", but those other 2…yeah.

I owned the 12" back in the day. Still dig it.

According to Paul, he wanted to go somewhere outside of the UK/US, EMI gave him a list of their studios around the world and Nigeria struck his fancy. Also, maybe Ginger Baker coaxed him into it.

"Although McCartney’s previous albums had been relatively successful,
they were critically lambasted—usually with comments about how John
Lennon and George Harrison’s solo works were far superior."

The Castleton cover beats at least 10 of the 12 on the actual album!

Dude's voice is so similar to Gabriel's that cover actually sounds like a So outtake to me.

Best thing on the damn record.
