Oh wow! I also worked there around that time- we probably have people in common. (=

I think we’re talking about the same place! The cart thing was something I also experienced, though I never saw the entity.
Nope! But it’s not terribly far. Since I still work for this place I’m not going to give too much info since it’ll definitely doxx me. Sorry!
It was completely stupid and luckily she was only in there for a minute at the most, literally only long enough for us to chuckle and then open the door when she screamed. We’re still friends to this day and she’s emotionally okay- I promise! ( ;
Hm maybe? Honestly I still run camp programs here, but I never go in that room (or in the wing of the building that it’s located in) if I can help it. Maybe I’ll be brave!
It’s the Bay!
In college, and still now (nearly 6 years out) I worked at a haunted summer camp.
This made me tear up. I hope your whole troop stays together for a very long time. Ya’ll sound amazing.
That is amazing! We have “outreach” troops in my council as well, and we have volunteers and staff doing very similar stuff that you did. It’s amazing to see girls let themselves dream about things that they didn’t think they could do before. Bravo to you for volunteering.
Also, so many people don’t realize how many…
Thank you! Honestly, Girl Scouting is all about the volunteers- so if you’re a troop leader, SU volunteer, or a parent of girl scout, thank YOU! I couldn’t get anything I do done without ya’ll.
Aw thank you! I hope she has an awesome next year! Daisies are the best.
Lmao, no. I am Council staff, program namely. I personally oversee and work with our Camp CEO. Every Camp CEO runs differently, and to paint them all the same is irresponsible, and also just not correct. I won’t speak to the Cookie CEO badges- those are from GSUSA and not created by individual Councils.
Our Camp CEO is…
Ah which song?! I love First Aid Kit and this brings me so much joy. How sweet.
Lol damn. That comment is SO condescending and also like...untrue? Chances are, if I don’t have to worry about paying my mother’s medical bills, my student loans, my rent, my car payment, my therapy, my pills...if all that didn’t go away I would be much happier. People who tell me otherwise are farts in the wind.
Every…
Hey! For girls- learning in an all girl environment that is supportive, with curriculum that is built for girls- is vital to their growth and emotional development. Girl Scouting is amazing and it’s what you and your troop adults make of it. The new outdoor badges, new STEM badges, and new STEM outdoor badges are…
YO. To you and all the other people here who think Girl Scouts has thrown out outdoor programming and outdoor experiences. It’s untrue. You do so much more than sell cookies and craft. Knot typing, fire building, outdoor cooking, adventure camping and hiking, climbing- all of these things are literally built into the…
This probably won’t get seen because I’m in the greys, but please do not forget that although this fire is occurring in areas that are middle/upper middle class, wine country, etc, it is also happening in areas where folks have extremely low incomes and access to resources- especially considering the fact that many…
It doesn’t take a year to develop a comprehensive girl only curriculum/program, especially across the age levels.
Oh sorry, I don’t mean problematic in that sense, just that it’s a really large, really old org and a lot of leaders and volunteers have had issues feeling heard by GSUSA. But overwhelmingly this is a niche/internal thing and doesn’t actually affect girls.
I mean, essentially that is what will happen if BSA is successful. Girls and their families will go to BSA because of perception, ease (their brothers are in it), etc and will lose out on the opportunity to join Girl Scouts.
