Please, name a single one of these other options you’re imagining.

Yeah, the police are really gonna do something, right?

I’m wondering—if a man was filming another man in a sexualizing way, and the man being filmed punched the cameraman...would the discussion here go any differently?

Your link applies more to his behavior than hers, of course.

That’s the point, though, isn’t it. These creeps feel a little too safe doing what they’re doing. What she described in her comment is the consequence. Maybe this is not a safe way to address the problem, but it’s commendable.

Calling the police would do nothing. There’s like 1% chance to prosecute this guy, especially if she doesn’t know his name.

Thank you. Honestly, I felt very frightened and changed my commute to avoid ever seeing him again.

Yeah, young white dudes are *the* most oppressed group in the history of the world, especially when evil feminazis criticize their previous video games.

Fuck that shit. He deserved it. She didn’t.

Isn’t it funny how you concern trolls never show up to tell that man deserve jail when they are actually stalking and harassing somebody.

No. She didn't.

This is an excellent point. Thank you.

Just because the generic activity of filming in public is protected speech, that doesn’t mean that all filming in public is protected speech. In the same way that you can’t yell fire on a crowded pavilion, you can’t use film to create an environment that is physically dangerous, or severely disrupts urban traffic. The

Do you also noticed how comment section in Jezebel changed. There are now misogynistic subhuman trolls everywhere here, some of them even highly upvoted when they say pay gap is a myth or that raped girl was asking for it. Where are the moderators?

Calling the police makes it official. There’s an official record of this incident. So if this guy turns up later doing the same thing, or worse, or starts following her, etc, that initial report becomes the first step of documenting his behavior.

Tip for next time you’re concern-trolling and trying to imply that you’re somehow professionally involved in legal stuff:

Well good news for you, you won’t have to hear about someone going to jail for doing what she did because it’s 100% perfectly legal to film someone in public, whether it turns out to be a cop (?) or not.

IIRC, this is the same person who vehemently argued that it’s unfair to criticize Gamergate in any way because it’s a serious, important and entirely legitimate social justice crusade being waged by a deeply oppressed minority group, just like feminism.

A scenario playing out like this is too far-fetched to be a rationale for any course of action. In most people’s experience, calls to police for things like this do not result in police officers arriving on the scene. Therefore if any action is to be taken it’s up to us to do it ourselves.

I hope his wife sees this and divorces his creepy ass. I also hope he doesn’t have daughters.
