You gotta love this guy. He isnone of two people whl would have the appeal and mind to participate in "Cosmos". The other?

I like the thematic tying together of the two sagas. When they used the LOTR song in the BOTFA trailer it was like a gut punch. You do not use that song lightly.

It's wonderful. Totally amazing.

Humans are landing things on comets. I'm okay with this!

More experiments that end in explosive and really cool results. Seriously. For those who have trouble with the 'dry' theory, seeing really interesting examples of reactions is the best helper.

It seems like, almost every time I find an article featuring Peter Capaldi, he's always doing something absolutely kind and sweet for someone, especially if that someone is a child. The man is just fantastic, as the Doctor and as a person, and I absolutely love him.

I'm not going to lie here, Peter Capaldi is such a great doctor! This is why we have nice things.

They should create a new Oscar for people who have earned recognition in non traditional fields. They can call it "The Serkis Award for Outstanding Something" teehee.

I loved Dawn, it managed to stand out in a year crammed full of truly excellent movies. Any recognition it gets is fine by me.

Iron Matryoshka!

Mind = Blown.

Hey, everyone! My name's Pat. I'm a writer and editor, and I read io9 daily to keep myself sane at my otherwise insane day job.

Very well, where do I begin? My father was a relentlessly self-improving boulangerie owner from Belgium with low grade narcolepsy and a penchant for buggery. My mother was a fifteen year old French prostitute named Chloe with webbed feet. My father would womanize, he would drink, he would make outrageous claims like

I'm a clinical psychologist in a rural area. I say rural; I reeeeeeeally mean rural! Urban psychologists have NO IDEA what it means to practice in the sticks, and it's an ongoing feeling of bitterness for me. Sometimes, I feel very isolated. On the other hand, I love every single one of my patients and they are all my

Hi there, everyone. Yes, my user name above is my real name. I'm 29, live in Toronto, Canada, and work in IT for one of Canada's big banks.

I'm Josh! Recently laid off, but also recently signed by a small publishing house for a novel, so there's that. It's a hardboiled, Buddhist-tinged cyberpunk murder mystery, Buddhas Dream of Enlightened Sheep. (The title was a joke from my writing group. I like the noir tropes and was playing them up... So lots of rain

I'm a biologist and I work for the (US) federal government. In my free time I lift weights and throw in highland games. I mostly read urban fantasy and I watch too much tv. I prefer action and comedic movies to dramas and my new favorite movie of all time is GotG.

I'm an archaeologist from Austin, been doing so for a little over 10 years. I started reading here because this is a good source for interesting popular science writing from many different disciplines. I'm also someone who has dabbled at the edges of "geek culture" all my life. I'm a huge music fan and record

That's beautifully well stated. Some belief systems believe that we are born in a sinful condition, and may only be redeemed through acceptance of that, in addition to various and sundry other spiritual window-dressing. It's a presumed self-loathing that I choose to reject.

I was eating dinner while watching this and I was starting to wonder if someone had slipped me a Merciless Pepper of Quetzalacatenango because I thought for sure I was tripping.
