I swear every time I’ve enjoyed or dislike an episode this season the AV club reviewer has a completely opposite reaction. I thought this was an excellent one, probably one of the best this season.

You are flat-out wrong. The Hep-C cure, like the majority of commercial drug products in the US, was principally developed using US Gov Grants (in the case of Hep-C, this was from the National Institute of Health and the Department of Veterans Affairs).
