Can we just acknowledge how incredibly cool it is to release something like this? More of this, please, from all companies. 

With the slow but clear collapse of all functionality on the Kinja platform I’m almost wondering if some advance meta-research project isn’t being done here to measure how poorly technology can function before humans finally stop using it.

Judging by the votes and comments on this article, the majority of people reading game reviews are here to learn about the game, and not the author. There is a place for this article (blog post), and it is not in the game reviews section.

You can write a great personal recommendation for a game without resorting to a title clearly written to piss people off. 

Literally more than half of the article is literally about it being from trans devs and relating to personal experience... It literally doesn’t even go into a game review at all other than a general premise.

Man, it’d be a shame if in the next paragraph I said something like

I mean... other commenters have pointed this out already, but this game really sounds more Zelda-like instead of Metroid-like. To call it the “Best Metroidvania of the year” sounds less like an attack on Dread and more like a simple misunderstanding on the part of the author.

You think maybe “the gamers are upset” because this is advertised as a game review, but is actually a clickbait title and amateurish blog post?

Yeah I’m 100% willing to believe this, and maybe a majority of them, are CMS jank, but there has also been a noticeable uptick in genuine misspellings or grammatical messes or spliced sentences that were clearly rewritten but then never proofread. Idk, just a lot of bemusedly rereading things and being like “oh, yeah…

Starting a new studio is a big leap of faith and takes courage, unlike writing this piece. Great job sticking it to the man. Or, you know, a startup with fewer than 10…
