it’s not a coincidence that the entire project (both in-fiction and in its outward presentation) uses the motif of a square, triangle and circle, three-quarters of Sony’s trademark, the X presumably omitted to avoid a lawsuit.

Eh, disagree. I love the older scores. They sound like videogames, instead of the faux-movie orchestral stuff. To avoid a misunderstanding, I still like the latter - I just prefer the former. (Also, the new games may well use MIDI as a technology, it’s still very common in games. What you hate is General MIDI, which

Those guides in Gamestop have been officially licensed and there’s contract agreements. This guy was making money off of Nintendo property with no agreement.

Once again: Obvious thing that was going to happen, obviously happens.

It could, but he would have to contact Nintendo (or whatever publisher released the games) for approval before attempting to sell them. And I guarantee that if you call up a publisher and say “I want to make a guide book for your 30 year old game” They will laugh and hang up.

The mod more than likely goes against their EULA and the organizers will be profiting off of it. Its one thing to mod a game and just play at home for your fun. Its another when you are using it to profit off of someone else’s IP

Exactly, it may not be pirating, but using a Nintendo game in a way that wasn’t intended in a public setting where they’ll make profits off of the tournament is obviously not a good idea. They have every right to protect THEIR brand by preventing this sort of activity.

It sucks, but it’s also not that hard to understand why it happens. Project+ is not an official Nintendo made product and promoting it to the public, such as in a tournament, falsely makes it seem like a Nintendo product. There are legitimate reasons to protect your companies IP.

You'd lose that bet. If these people were just playing Melee on a CRT through an unmodified GameCube, Nintendo wouldn't care. It's only taking umbrage to Project+, a mod of Smash Brawl, being used and streamed in money matches. The operative word is "mod".

I have that discussions all the time. If you don’t align your sales targets with the reality of the size of the market you targeting, your manager is a moron. And then there’s competition.

This is where Nintendo is smarter than any western business. Not just in gaming, but retail and beyond.

When I lived in a town of 60,000 people I was working at Target. They expected constant permanent growth not only of sales, but of membership sign ups too. Except, this ignored the basic truth that a town that size

Much as I want to agree with you, the whole point of those authenticators is that only you have physical access to it. The moment it’s put onto the cloud or any internet-accessible account, it just becomes another target.

“cascading failure” thank you i could have just said this and saved myself 600 words.

No sync is fair criticism of Google Authenticator (it’s a deliberate choice they made since sync weakens security), but SMS MFA is cancer. The number of times I’ve been left unable to finish a transaction or log in to a service because SMS is an ancient system that can take minutes or hours to deliver if the network

I like to tell this story whenever the Wii U announcement comes up. I had seen the leaks for “project cafe,” knew that the system was going to have a screen in its controller, and knew that the system was going to be a full console. I then watched the Wii U announcement and was subsequently confused as to what it

Because courts are often idiotic. As a former court reporter, I’ve on numerous occasions seen lawyers ask either witnesses or experts identify common day objects to the court “That is a teapot. That is a butcher’s knife. That is a cutting board” .. etc. Very stupid.

S-E’s track record with remakes or remasters is real spotty when it comes to FF. The way they massacred FF6 makes me sad. But War of the Lions is such an improved experience. I know these are completely different generations of remakes/remasters/whatever these are called, but they come to mind first for me.

I'd like to see a top 10 worst games in 2020 on the Switch eShop, review or no review. Yikes.

I’d definitely give my worst to Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles Remastered. They somehow made connecting with 4 GBAs and link cables the more optimal way of playing CC. That’s a feat of sucking.

I’ve been apart of the industry for over 20 years; it does not work like this...ever. your “data” might say otherwise but no it’s never that personal or cynical and when it is those types aren’t long for the haul.

Well, it’s also perfectly reasonable to call out businesses for being just that - businesses. They don’t give a FUCK about BLM, or Pride, or anything of that nature, they only care about their image by shallowly supporting these issues. And if they want to prove that that’s not the case then they can’t have it both
