I’m with you. (holding fist in air)

Thank you.

I was trying to be nice, but what the hell ever man. If you don’t want people to discuss then don’t comment. Simple.

Yes but you framed it as though the trans community has been quiet about his casting up until now, which is patently untrue. We’ve been pointing out that casting a cis man to play a trans woman (even a pre-transition trans woman!) is shitty. We did so before the show started. We continued during the show. The only

You’re right on the money. As a sexual abuse/assault victim’s advocate, Tambor’s statement echo the same line of horseshit my organization hears from guilty parties again and again and again.

He could also be saying that Soloway refused to talk to him “directly.” In other words, she sent an HR rep. Or she talked to his manager or agent. The statement is ambiguous enough to give people the wrong impression while not being incorrect enough to get him sued.

Oh no, you know Amazon was just looking for a reason to fire the star of their critically-acclaimed Emmy-winning show, so of course they wouldn’t include him in the investigation. He just has no idea what he could have done wrong!!! Why won’t anyone just talk to him???
</sarcasm>

As an HR professional who has conducted workplace investigations, I find it highly unlikely that Amazon didn’t have specially trained professional investigators doing everything exactly by the book, especially in a “politicized atmosphere”. Tambor may not have liked the investigation, but I’m 99.999999% sure he was

Must feel so biased to not be the one to make the call on what happened.

In his statement he said:

Classic verbose abuser-as-victim. The several I’ve known have a unique ability with the written word, it really shines when they are feeling persecuted. The formal tone with condescension, judgment and blame sprinkled in. The overly-multisyllabic screed that tries to hide ‘wah-wahh, poor me’.

In his statement he said:

He’s lying. Or he’s stretching the truth enough that it’s a lie. Technically he didn’t say no one talked to him. He mentioned Jill Soloway and said, “In our four-year history of working together on this incredible show, these accusations have NEVER been revealed or discussed directly with me or anyone at Amazon.” That

You realize that cis actors play trans folks a lot, even the ones post-transition, yeah? Like, your argument fails the instant you switch “cis” and “trans”.

People in the trans community are not getting more vocal, we’ve been pointing out what a shitty casting decision it was since before the show started. Just because you’re listening more, doesn’t mean we’re getting louder.

Gosh, I don’t know - maybe an actor? Have you heard of things like makeup and costumes?! The world is AMAZING!

You are not wrong. I am very aware of Jezebel as a mostly white-centered site.

Now playing

She also received character points from me for posing every single event as a proposition

I also never understood why the show, and the revival, stuck with Rory being a journalist. She clearly wasn’t suited to it and fucks up the few easy gigs she lands......The revival would have been more interesting if she found a new dream like being a teacher or running a non-profit and they moved on from the tired

That was some good Lifetime. Especially the inclusion of Sally Jessy and her fantastic glasses (though I think she had some more demure glasse for this?)
