“Masshole, unlike the drivers of his god forsaken state 😉, actual stays in his lane so to speak.”
Yup! The commenter just cherry picked the one sentence that he thought supported his argument (because he didn’t understand the article), and ignored the rest, because the authors totally talk about how men cause more injury:
100%. I just commented (again!) on the guy saying the men wouldn’t lie! And yeah it’s actually disturbing how much people buy into that abuser mentality, to be honest. The guy with the article was basically like, “but women start it!”
The authors literally state that men may be less willing to admit hitting their partners than women. There are many reasons people lie in anonymous surveys, it’s widely acknowledged as a limitation of any study using self-reporting measures.
You cited an article that wasn’t about the general incidence of intimate partner violence. The article you cited was comparing the incidence of injury and violence in reciprocal versus non-reciprocal violent relationships.
Thanks, love. I have dismissed so many comments. Like over twenty, I think. I’m down for a discussion, but not down for vile condescending bros who are aggro that I don’t want to hear about their dicks.
It really is a pleasure to watch him run. Here, enjoy this longer one that includes the photographers yelling at him lol. My only complaint is that they’re not yelling in Spanish.
I literally never said women can’t like dick jokes. But I guess congrats on being such a Cool Girl™ that you completely missed the point.
You’ve summed it up perfectly, thank you. And yes, it’s just so exhausting.
I recognize the commenter and don’t think he had bad intentions. But yeah it’s still super irritating and all the more reason I commented on it (knowing he’s not some troll).
It is irritating to see dick jokes in the comments section of Jez. I don’t even know why it irritates me so much, but it really does. Like this isn’t Reddit, bro. Just thinking out loud - which I figured would be fair since I had to read your dick joke.
Of course he’s trolling.
At one time when I was walking, I had Lulu, I told Lulu, “Lulu I don’t feel good,” and she would say, “What’s wrong? I have to go to the bathroom.” I went to the doctor. He gave me another appointment.
Exactly. I really kind of detest how misleading the description of the crime was. It unnecessarily undermines the rest of the piece and detracts from what could have been a more focused discussion on the actual issue at hand - including, as you said, how to have sympathy for Green’s efforts to change her life and be a…
And I want to make clear that I think it’s possible to have sympathy for Green as an incarcerated mother, while not having sympathy for her role in her crime. The same goes for all incarcerated mothers. It doesn’t have to be all or nothing.
It’s extremely frustrating to see how much you downplay/diminish Green’s crime here, especially because it’s totally unnecessary. This article is incredibly compelling and seems well researched. But seeing her crime described as Green unwittingly being a part of a murder for “giving him a ride,” it does a real…
“Many departments have a ‘no chase’ policy and a ‘no shoot’ policy for suspects fleeing using a motor vehicle for just this reason - because there is no way to actually stop a person intent on fleeing in any certainly safe manner.”
