I, for one, am shocked this was never about his disingenuous story where he accidentally and inadvertently touched one woman’s back that one time.

It depends on what exactly you’re referencing, but since you mentioned her “earlier work,” I just want to point out that historical context isn’t meaningless - it’s really not practical to use today’s standards to judge anyone’s  writing from 40-50 years ago.

As an FYI, literally the only good thing about being in the greys is that the greys can respond to other greys and they will stay grey. So you shouldn’t have to worry about inadvertently ungreying trolls if you’re also grey. ;)

That’s possible, but not what happened here. I ungreyed HijabFemme by replying to her (she was grey before I replied) but unfortunarly the troll was already in the black with four stars. Like how.

I hear you. I’m not sure I entirely agree that he doesn’t have a strategic long game, but either way, the people latching onto him do, and they are harnessing this chaos (and feeding it) to undermine our entire system of government for their exclusive benefit.

Trump’s endgame is to make money for himself and his friends. The endgame of those around him (in the Republican Party - allies and those advising him) is to ride the wave / fan the flames of chaos in order to pass laws that allow them to gain more power, more control, and more money at the expense of the American…

Of course I don’t think it altogether discredits a protest. But I also don’t think a selfie at a protest is like some symbol of action or wokeness or whatever. And I don’t think talking about this is creating some kind of fake problem, I think it’s recognizing a trend that often comes from a problematic place.
