Great addition to this list. I appreciate the textbook-quality history lessons without all the stuffiness!

Great addition, Whitson. I've been listening to both of Dan's podcasts for years and he never fails to bring interesting perspectives to deadlocked issues. Also entertaining and surprisingly well-produced.

Totally agree. I had been trying to cold-brew but the coffee was always weaker and I made a mess filtering it manually. Hot—>cold coffee is much easier and not much is lost!

On another note, when will Hollywood finally get around to remaking Top Gun?! They can use all the same actors from the original! Just Goose has to live this time. Non-negotiable.

Summarizing the answers to "why are manhole covers round?" and the over-generalized conclusion I'd draw about the interviewee (IMHO):

Thank you, LifeHacker, for these articles! I've had the Verizon shackles for years and am, on a weekly basis, evaluating my off-contract options. It's a confusing landscape but this type of analysis helps!

I'd question the ethics of that approach, but I'm sure Verizon would claim they filed Chapter 11 if I ever overpaid and wanted a reimbursement...I guess I'm cool with it.

Love all the advice here, and I'll pass along some advice I received and benefited from in 3 internships:

I didn't know they had Instagram-style vintage photo effects back then. Classy!

I'm sorry, but this does not at all seem like good advice...more money to drive recklessly to work? Money to raise kids makes it sound like you didn't plan your life well. And, good companies should be paying for you to get relevant/important training. If they don't, they probably won't pay you on the promise of

What ever you do, do not go steal it from your local machine shop. I'm tired of running outside to write the first 2 digits of a license plate. Sorry, sore topic.

While I personally like the new Gmail, there seems to be a trend in UIs lately of moving away from the obvious: i.e. button icons with no text labels, or using gestures/swipes/long-presses for basic functions...

It honestly sounds like it would be a joy to be manipulated by you :)

After the Lifehack of hanging pot lids on the inside of my cupboards using command hooks, this seems like a GREAT way...to smash my tablet. I love command hooks, but not for mission-critical applications...

DROID DNA! Okay, I'll show myself out.

I think every remote desktop app should come with a one-time set-up guy who will go to my Grandma's house and install the remote desktop app. That's the hardest part...

I can get away with almost 1cm. Nokia Qi + Droid DNA with slim case

I did this mod to the top drawer of my nightstand and have loved it! The drawer bottom was thin enough that no hollowing/chiseling was required. Now I just slap my phone in the corner of the drawer and I don't have to mess with the Droid DNA port cover that's becoming more frequent on phones. Very convenient!

+1, and I hope you built to code.

Wow, easy and effective website! The Weather Channel just got a 100% chance of debookmarking.
