"The Navy does it slower and deeper"
Too soon...
It's got to be true, I read about this in a Dan Brown book.
On top of that, X-51's is more of an acceleration engine with longer flight duration (5 mins). X-43 was about 10 seconds in duration with relatively constant speed.
Sounds like a mini version of my plan to get 8 solid hours of work knocked out:
I'd like to be on the Olympic Village cleaning staff that finds a silver medal in her trash can...
Imagination rooms sound like a luxury of progressively-minded companies, not the norm for the US corporate world. It's definitely not the standard in the engineering world I've experienced, which certainly values quality work over hours logged.
+1.0000 +/-0.0005
It's the Large Hadron Collider all over again...
I agree, all organisms should have alienable rights...
NASA calls those rules "planetary protection". The waste is pretty well contained in the generator which is designed to survive a crash. So, it should just keep decaying in its canister until there's nothing radioactive left...in a 100 years or so.
Yes, China is becoming more capable, but they have a long way to go before they can be compared to the US. You mention two highly-visible DOD programs in trouble, but you fail to notice the US' absolutely superior advantages in special forces, command & control, integrated air defense, general force projection, etc.,…
Why is Gizmodo bringing such a pro-China / anti-American slant to military technoogy reporting? First, the US has had nuclear and non-nuclear anti-carrier capability for a long time. Second, China has yet to demonstrate this technology AND the US does have defensive measures for this type of thing.
Conspiracy Theory: USAF leaves these in orbit at all times. When the need arises, these little guys can do an orbital plane change by dipping into the atmosphere, and go grab a foreign satellite. It's the fastest way possible to touch something in orbit (no launch prep).
Gin, Tonic, Lime. The original GTL from way back when men were men.
Almost. kWh is a magnitude of energy usage —> kW used for X hrs.
Looks helpful to me...though I tend to get pretty excited by astronomy.
Make sure you only use rings more durable than gold, or this becomes a Wifehack.
Agreed. If their in-flight entertainment adds 45,000lb to a 650,000lb aircraft (please excuse me for switching units), they're doing it wrong.
