The problem here is simple: the TSA is not proactively stopping terrorism, they are reacting to what are most likely one-off plans. They react to one attempt, which will probably never happen again. We need to stop attacks before they begin, not prevent what has already happened.

@10pound: It'd be more effective in terms of damage probably, have you ever seen the lines at security gates? Its exactly that: a chokepoint. A couple people with bombs, it'd be a disaster, and what can the screeners do?
