Part of the problem with these machines is that they are a reactionary measure. We focus too much on protecting people at the very end of the line security wise. I feel this will never replace my standard email, mostly because I have my gmail account set up to filter anything and everything I don't care about, including facebook updates. Add on to that the effect that having @gmail has on perspective employers, it wouldn't work to replace an email client.

@nashix: It depends on familiarity. You wont start a business email with something very informal, but a personal one is different. I was speaking from a standpoint of business communications.

People may also mistake an email for a latter, and format the email with the same stuff as a letter. An email is completely different and much less formal.

Sending any kind of message, be it in email, letter, or memo form needs to start with one thing : "I am writing to..."
