Hey now, the Brits brought us the fine sport of cheese rolling. Don't be a hater.

"When asked to comment, Philadelphia Public Record publisher/editor-in-chief Jimmy Tayoun Sr. told Philadelphia Magazine that the mistake was simply a 'proofreading error:'"
I'm sorry. What the actual fuck.
"That editor is a Britisher," Tayoun explained, puzzlingly. "He didn't mean anything by it."
You must be very young.
That's the standard attitude here at Gawker. The obsession with all things British at this site reminds me of the way people in the Soviet Union once reacted to American jeans: Too enthusiastically and too uncritically.
Pictured: the editor-in-chief. Everyone knows that shit is Charlie work.
AND their impact on worldly culture.
Ditto.
Britisher (ˈbritiSHər/)
Laughing at the stupidity. Question: Is the organization for people who are from abroad? I did not notice names similar to mine - western first name, Chinese last name, something that is very common for Chinese Americans/Chinese Canadians. I think I see names like mine more often than a completely Chinese name.
Not that it matters, but to any native Philadelphians — how big/important is this paper anyway? Does it have a big readership?
"He is British, you see. And they are known worldwide for their cultural tolerance..."
I highly doubt the Philadelphia Public Record employs a proofreader.
Philadelphia being the best place in America to live and grow?
The "Britisher" remark/excuse is the kind Gawker staff and commenters would normally make. There is a strong strain of self-abasing Anglophilia in East Coast media. Thus, when a racist from the UK reveals his true feelings, it's OK. The excuse is that somehow, whatever a person from the UK does is acceptable, because…
Sounds like a racial slur against us Englanders, Scotch, Walesians and North Irelandish.
It's one nasty thing to use a slur in a newspaper, and it's another nasty thing to tell a boldface LIE after the fact and say that there was no racism involved. Are you. Kidding. Me. Are you kidding me.
Holy shit, that should be offensive to anyone with a brain. And to explain it away as the editor is British? I can't stop shaking my head.
