He hasn't been being sentenced yet—that's scheduled for 9/3. Although I doubt he'll get life, in theory he could—in Michigan, it's 15 to life for 2nd degree murder.

You may not agree with their decision but they really did what they were supposed to do. We don't know what his sentence is going to be and there is a civil case pending so there is more in store for Wafer.
I don't think he's been sentenced yet.
That gif is my new love!
As a Michigander, I find your comment a bit insulting. As a seal enthusiast, I find it awesome.
Yes. I think that perception of the verdict speaks volumes about my colleagues take on race issues. When his biggest concern about Ferguson was the looting I became totally convinced that his race politics were suspect as hell.
i hope those jurors reap what they sow. they know damn well that if one of their relatives was murdered that they'd want life imprisonment for the person who killed their loved one. it sickens me to think ,had renisha been rebecca, that wafer would be be serving life in prison. that part about the juror crying makes…
The length to which people are willing to maintain that a manslaughtering white man is "not a bad guy" is amazing.
Whoa!
The jury doesn't believe Wafer is a "bad guy,"
So, how many defenseless people does one have to blindly shoot and kill before they *do* become "a bad guy"?
I was going to say, I hate that this is news worthy. Of course it wasn't self defense.
I'm not a gun expert - I've only handled a rifle a few times - but isn't a big part of discharging your weapon safely and with accuracy is to, you know, sight your target before you shoot?
This case made things scarier in the metro Detroit region. That you can get shot for simply knocking on a door, and the shooter can get away with it.
He should`ve been charged with first degree murder. Turning on a light or looking out the window should`ve been his initial decision. Using a gun should`ve been the last resort of self defense, not the first. Btw, how can I get out of the greys?
Did we ever actually find out why he really, honestly shot her? Did he confess or explain in any way?
I'm pretty sure shooting someone who is only seeking help is pretty much the definition of "a bad guy."
And this is why "I shoot a magic missile into the darkness" is always a bad idea.
Because IRL, doing that = murder.
