It doesn’t necessarily take that much time to build PU speed. It’s just that the no-jump version Pannenkoek used in his WfRR 0.5 A-press strat builds speed really slowly. In the Vanish Cap level, you see Mario build up PU speed in about 3 seconds of constant BLJs.
