I am not surprised the smaller version is not coming to the US (at least, not immediately). It could prove confusing for consumers, especially unfamiliar parents, with all the face plate options. Also, retail space is cramped for nintendo. With 2 more lines of SSB Amiibo and a new Mario Amiibo line, that space will be

I would understand if they decided not to do the faceplates in the US region.

I get the limited space at retailers. Doesn't mean I am happy about it.

Smash Bros is quite an oversight. I would argue it should take the Mario & Luigi spot.

The new Smash is fantastic. The hype is real and all that - but I do have one pretty major gripe with the game. It's a gripe with the whole series really:

I really am loving the Wii U and have been pumping $$ into it pretty regularly over the last year or so. here goes:

We have control over our own actions. We can report and confront hate speech. We can address troubling comments and educate others in the moment as things arise. We also can stop passing the buck to someone else.

Ubisoft has been very public about their wavering support for the Wii U. It seems like a weird strategy to maintain a mutually beneficial relationship between the companies.

I want to know who at Nintendo is responsible for signing the deal with Knex. This helps prove it was clearly the wrong move.

I love the idea of a female Link, but I do not see anything particularly special in this design. When they do decide to do a female protagonist in the series (and I really believe it's more of a "when" than "if") I hope it is either Princess Zelda herself, or a better design than this.

Growing up, we had a bootleg cartridge with 101 games on it on loan from my dad's friend who picked it up in the Philippines (he was in the navy). I played this game growing up and it was so hard. despite the Japanese characters, I had no idea it wasn't a US release.

I cannot understand the Mercedez DLC hate. It's free, it's optional, and it's not trying to hide what it is: a petty attempt at corporate synergy between two seemingly disparate companies.

I don't care how you dress it up, Monopoly is a terrible game.

The saddest part is the Gorons just look confused with their silly grins.

I wish Daria could live on in a pixelated text adventure format.

Even though I reached this conclusion awhile ago, I was happy to see Kotaku finally come around on their verdict on the Wii U. :)

I have really enjoyed owning a Wii U and I am definitely happy with my purchase. It can be discouraging to hear people dismiss it so flippantly, especially since most haven't even tried the system yet. I bought in back in September with the special edition Wind Waker bundle. I wanted to replay my favorite Zelda title

So... no year of anyone. which is fine. but i think they are missing a huge opportunity.

If they do a themed "year of ____" they really need to commit. It felt like the Year of Luigi wasn't as strong as it could have been.

I also think Nintendo is getting savvy to the power of anniversary editions (not as much as they should) but Mario and Kirby have both had anniversary collections in the last couple years.
