Passports work since they are federally issued IDs, any federally issued ID with a photograph should work (Global Entry, military ID).  REAL ID only applies to state-issued IDs to confirm that they meet a federal standard.

I’ve read it’s also good to do when you get to your accommodations. Maybe your hotel room or B&B has an unfamiliar smell, of course it may require a shopping stop between airplane and room.

The Global Entry card works as valid ID for those whose state drivers licenses are not REAL ID compliant (or have not gotten a compliant license).

I also pack at least one full change of clothes, including shoes. Don’t forget a can opener, maybe two.

When flying, I’ll usually bring just a granola bar if I have one lying around. Otherwise, I can pick up something at my destination. With international travel, you often can’t bring in outside food, so I’ve had to throw away CLIF bars and beef jerky before reaching customs.
