Part of the issue may also be the lack of originality, and just parroting the good work other people do, due to a dearth of original thought.

With Fantastic Four it feels like they just want to scratch the itch of doing another period piece like The First Avenger, and then they can just send the main cast through a wormhole into the sacred timeline going forwards.
