Was it ever established that the emperor was his father? I didn't recall that...

Bill Maher?

Removing Assad's regime from power isn't the goal I would set; because it leaves us in a position like Iraq. If we remove a regime from power, we inherit some responsibility for ensuring that a stable, peaceful regime replaces them; and for ensuring safety and security in the country until that occurs.

I think a far

You might find the methods distasteful, but it's hard to argue with how fascinating the results are: it shows that the octopus has something of a distributed nervous system, with it's limbs making independent decisions. This is very different from the kind of centralized nervous system humans employ. A lot was learned

It's not 'personal safety' anyone more when look at larger statistics.

Yeah; the objects in EVERY two body system orbit around their common barycenter. This part of the article was very poorly written.

Even if you could walk (through some underground passageway) directly from any one point on the circle to any other point; this is still a geometry that maximizes that distance (as a function of the total area of the building).

You can give them crap if you want; but let's be honest: if you are watching porn, who are you really trying to hold back for?

Now how can you construct a toroidal building like this and NOT put a particle accelerator in it? That's just not right...

Also, isn't this a really inefficient building design that maximizes the distance between any two points?

beat me to it

I could go on and on about possible solutions to those problems: re-directing auto traffic around historic downtown areas (as many cities have started doing), moving parked cars off the side of the road and into garages in parking lots to make bike lanes possible, even allocating new paths or re-allocating old roads

Clearly I played WAY too much Sim City growing up, because I covered the map with these things...

Not really; I've just felt the need to respond to repeated accusations that I don't understand how research and development works, or that I am somehow opposed to Elon Musk or his companies, which I am not.

Oh, no that makes sense actually. They can pick their own ear buds; but they have to use the provided ear muffs to prevent people in the audience from giving them intel

I don't know why you think that. I never said anything remotely like that. I never said he shouldn't work on holograms. I never said he works alone. I never said he doesn't have people working for him. If anyone is guilty of comparing Musk to Tony Stark, or implying that he works alone it's so obviously Eric Limer,

Does anyone know why they had ear-buds and then covered them with big over-the-ear muffs instead of just nice, big, comfy, noise-blocking over the ear head sets?

I'm amazed how many people got their panties in a knot over the mere suggestion that we should take anything Elon Musk said with the slightest grain of salt. Oh no! Heaven forbid we should use skepticism!

I know he does, and I know a handful of people who work for one of his companies (SpaceX). It sounds like you are the one with the misconceptions about labs full or robot arms, not me.

Well, then it sounds like the problem is just as much a lack of good planning as it is a problem with cyclists. If you want to solve that problem: put in some bike lanes. Maybe people will use them and reduce traffic.
