My wife doesn't understand how the Star Wars trilogy can be my favorite movies even though I never actually watch them anymore. I've probably seen the trilogy ~500 times in my life, and at this point I can just close my eyes and watch them, I have every detail committed to memory. I am pretty sure a half decent

He could also try putting the cylinder on the outside of his 'time shield' so that time passes more slowly for the device than it does for him.

I agree. Avatar was an important movie from a technical standpoint; a big leap forward for 3D and motion capture as the author mentioned; but if we are talking about the technology around the film, instead of the content of the film then Jurassic Park and Star Wars should be at the top of this list.

As far as I can tell; it's nothing to do with the actual GPS information it receives IN the signal, it's the signal itself. Knowing the phase of the signal can help more accurately determine the distance to the satellite. However, I'm skeptical. Knowing the phase would help you narrow down the distance if you were

whoops, thanks

Alternatively, if an accuracy of within a couple of meters meets your needs; I would highly recommend the u-blox chip-set.

We must strike back against this new threat. Go get 'em boys!

HK-47 should be in every video game

No, my point has remained constant: Steve Jobs = marketer of existing technology. Steve Jobs != creator of new technology. I'm sorry you think it keeps changing.

You are now retreating to gross generalities and hypothetical statements about where we would be if Steve Jobs didn't exist. Let me know if at some time in

<total conjecture>

I wonder if the 'special hack' they use is knowing the default Root ID/Pass installed by various manufacturers; and using that to establish an SSH tunnel into the device, and installing whatever surveillance software they need. I wonder if rooting the device and setting a new root password would foil

You're basically just taking what I say; re-packing it with a pro-apple verbiage, and parroting it back to me. Congratulations, you are the Steve Jobs of this conversation. I've already said that I think Steve Jobs is a significant figure in the marketing of technology products; I just object to the idea that he ever

No, absolutely not. I'm not sure I follow your point though.

That's a good point. As wary as I am of our drone program; I will readily admit that there is nothing inherently wrong with the technology. Drones COULD be used ethically and responsibly; I just don't think they are being used that way now.

Do you think the US has 100% control over the actions of it's citizens? Or that it even should?

I think you are misconstruing the argument a bit. It's likely that a piloted plane would actually be much worse at being able to independently locate and engage the kinds of targets we use drones on now; because it would be too dangerous and conspicuous to have them loiter at low speeds and low altitudes while

I completely disagree; you are making some really weird and unfounded assumptions.

First of all, not all terrorists are suicidal; and for the most part, I wouldn't call the people carrying out most suicide bombings 'terrorists' I would call them 'children.' Most of them don't truly understand what they are doing, and

Well, you are mixing my metaphors now. In the analogy I provided:
Terrorists are to Drones
as
1950's Russia was to Nukes

People could have (and did) use a very similar argument in support of dropping atomic weapons on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. That line of reasoning held right up to the point where our enemies also had atomic weapons and our advantage was checked. Can you see where I am going with this?

Drone warfare is an easy thing to

Here; integrate this equation:
