Wait, why did you put father in quotations? AH! NO MORE SPOILERS!!
Wait, why did you put father in quotations? AH! NO MORE SPOILERS!!
Damned io9! I just (finally) got around to starting Game of Thrones today, and now I know that that little brat becomes king. Spoiler Alert?
Well, maybe you and I are interpreting the article differently, and it is admittedly a little ambiguous about what it means to be "based on 50-year-old American technology," but I would argue that the Viper IS based on the 50-year-old AH1 Cobra, even if it's just the basic shape of the chassis that remains. Also, the…
Exactly, and I didn't see anything in the article that indicates that Iran's version won't have some (or all) of those same improvements to the basic design. Maybe they won't, but there is nothing that says a 50 year old design can't be a modern helicopter.
The US still flies Cobras (super Cobras anyway), it's a fantastic design that has stood the test of time.
Ha, I never even considered the possibility that the picture was supposed to be real. I assumed it was just like the picture of the elephant falling from the monorail, which was featured in an io9 article not too long ago.
If it had actually been a routine traffic stop he would have been busted. I only assume that someone found the illegal tracking device or somehow included that information in the report and that's why he is getting off.
The only person in this case you should be annoyed with is the bungling Officer Brian Metzger who had an easy bust on his hands and couldn't be bothered to get a warrant. He had to know the case would get thrown out, it's an open and shut case of an illegal search. He's obviously not very good at this job.
I don't necessarily agree with everything you said; but most importantly, I am not advocating anything that makes it HARDER to remain anonymous online; only measures that encourage people to discard their anonymity when they don't actually need it. If, as in your example, I was a closeted homosexual reluctant to…
I really don't know what it is you are so upset about: what is it you want to be able to do? Smoke on planes? In hospitals? In restaurants? There are plenty of places you can legally smoke: your house, your car, anywhere outside where you are far enough from other people not to bother them. If you are in one of these…
I hope that Sykes capitalizes on the opportunity to expand science literacy with the general public. Many people with no interest in science are interested in Yeti and Bigfoot stories, and if Sykes can use this as an opportunity to introduce them to science concepts like skepticism, genetics, the scientific method,…
Maybe they mean to survive an INTENTIONAL skydive sans parachute. For that matter, he may be the first person to even attempt one.
This has nothing to do with Freedom, it's about being considerate and realizing that as part of a large civilization, our actions affect one another and we have to be responsible for those actions. You're "Freedom" to smoke a cigarette in my face is mutually exclusive with my freedom to enjoy fresh air and not have to…
Quick Retorts:
Totally, I agree that people should be allowed to smoke wherever they want, it's their right. Also, I should be allowed to carry around a spray bottle full of vinegar and carcinogens and spray smoker with it. I feel like the two things are equally inconsiderate and damaging.
I agree that the legislation is a bad idea; but at the same time I would argue anonymity on the internet is abused far more often than it is used for legitimate freedom of speech...by several orders of magnitude. While I wouldn't support legislation against anonymity, I would support individual websites implementing…
aarrggghh....ya got me....
I don't feel that any authors on any Gawker blog have any right to point out typo's and mistakes in anyone else's content until they start proof reading their own before publishing.
I get that this is a little Friday Afternoon Flamebait to keep encourage new content in the form of comments while the Gawker staff retire to their private Yachts and Mansions for the weekend. Still, I going after TED? They have a lot more credibility than Gawker does: they proof read their presentations before they…
What she should have done is just told the owner to collect their phone from the 7-11 and left it with the clerk.
