He's recommending it because of the decreasing effectiveness of MSE.
You remember the OLD Norton. A year or so ago they completely re-wrote it to focus on making a light, fast, powerful product. It now whips the llama's ass.
There's nothing we can do on our own, I don't think. Google's search engine is doing what it's supposed to, and what we're trying to do is out-game Google in order to skew the results. If Google goes and proactively removes such results, though, they're no longer a neutral player.
Yeah, but I betcha she's such an extreme couponer that she pays almost nothing for her groceries, if not gets a refund right at the checkout.
I bought my own computer during my senior year in high school, in 1994. It wasn't new, it was an old 286 server I found at a thrift store for $50. It weighed 50-something lbs, it came with a pair of 5.25" floppy drives and a full-height 512MB HDD, either RLL or MFM. I can't remember which, because some time after that…
Yes, mounted to a plywood wall, which can't disperse heat because there's a mattress behind it, which has blankets and bodies laying on top of it. I think there's still concern, but, not my monitors I suppose.
Just man up and install GNU Utilities for your Windows install! ;-)
If I had known that nobody else wasn't going to mention VLC, I would have done so myself. Although, when you compare it to WinAmp and Monkey, it really isn't much of a media manager at all. Its just a very solid, robust media player.
Looks functional, but a lot less space for the sleep area. Not s great if you're claustrophobic.
I wouldn't do that out of concern of heat build-up, since you're dealing with plywood. With the current set-up, it looks like there is plenty of open space under the desk area for the air to circulate more freely.
It's not perfect, and, yet, they're never done messing with it.
As the original link you referred to reported, the reason that this bad guy continues to get high Google rankings (even though he's now in jail for 4 years, and 3 years after the NYT article was written) is because people are buzzing about how they were ripped off and abused by the company. Posting the URL, not…
Too lazy to take a photo, I've got a $40 Merkur safety razor, a new 10-pack of Feathers that I'm trying out (can't really tell the difference from the Merkur blades that came with my original razor), and a soap/bowl/brush kit my wife got me at Walmart for $10. My father and grandfather both used cheap Bic disposable…
And you actually think that people hyperlinking to sites, which redirect to the sites in question, will stop this from happening? Sure, because nobody has ever tried this before. Totally helps, right?
Don't feel bummed, the show doesn't interest me at all. Still, it must be good, it's gotten a long run on TV, has a huge audience, and won some awards. I can't hate on it for that, I can just admit that it's not my thing.
Except clicking the link is still going to generate a click for the site. And if they're using Google, Bing or any sort of analytics monitoring of their traffic, that's still going to be fed back into the search engines.
Even if you use this service to post a link to Fox News on Facebook, it's still going to generate a click on Fox News. They may not be able to trace it back to your post on Facebook, but it still gets promoted just the same.
It's "fast by comparison" because processors and RAM have greatly increased their speed and capacity. I bet you can't run the latest version comfortably on a Pentium II from a decade ago. But, other than the bloat, Winamp is still an incredibly good and useful application.
