For anyone except a wealthy VW collector (if there is such a thing)...

I completely agree. At $3k this is the perfect weekend project truck for someone who has a DD that they want to keep clean. Cheap to insure, cheap to fuel, and there’s almost nothing on it that you can’t fix with hand tools and a service manual. I wouldn’t even waste my time contacting the seller with what they want

This is a $3000 truck in normal times.  It’s not 4x4, it’s not in mint condition, and there isn’t $5000 worth of almonds in the bed.  Since not even one of those is true, this is No Dice for me.

This is how much interior you need to remove to get at the hydraulic hoses.

I own a 2000 Jaguar XK8, at $4k this seems fair, but I’d note the following:

This is the kind of catastrophically ridiculous thing that I absolutely love. If I had the money for something like this, I’d buy it. For a normal person, this is an obvious No Dice.

Interesting “survivor” and I dig the body style and that arrow-like back end.

Simple solution for traction. My dad used to have a 300-lb elevator counter weight we’d throw in the back of the truck for the winter. When I was young and stupid, I could pick the damn thing up. I'm not young anymore.

If my dog could drive, I could afford a nicer truck than this one. You’re a lucky man.

Why not both?

I had a former co-worker who had one of these for years. Hers was maroon and if it hadn’t been for the fact that on the college campus we worked on, it would have been flawless. Unfortunately it had dings down both sides (none of it her doing). She drove it until a few years before she retired (at the age of 81) when

Are there enough Jalpas changing hands to establish a market price?

Look, you put a 327 in an old Nova that came with a straight six, you have probably added value to the car. Easy swap, factory offered it that way, it is an old car at the point where everything probably needed to be redone anyway.

The seller says that the TIPM or Total Integrated Power Module is either not connected or is missing entirely.

Welcome back Rob and Jalopnik!

Oh, I meant to say in my comment. Rob, NPOND is legitimately the only reason I come to Jalop now.

I’ve um _created_ passengers in the back seat of a VW bug, but that was a long, long time ago when we were both a lot more limber. Even in those circumstances, this back seat would be too small.

Crap! It’s in Denver, and we’re down to one vehicle right now. Crap! I may be almost$10K poorer tomorrow.

I’ve always liked the look of these

Yeah, I’d write a check for this one, if it checked out. I’ve always liked the look of these and have had other Mazdas, so I know their quality.
