Nice enough car, decent price when looking at KBB and comparables on Craigslist. Presents pretty well, but I’m nervous about the lack of description of mechanical condition and maintenance. These drivetrains are pretty bomb-proof if well treated and maintained, but at 139K, could be way past its best-by date if it had

what strikes me is that lack of broken glass all over after 55 does his barrel roll. THAT’s a safety cage!

I’m trying to wrap my head around this car. The cobra was a 2-seat, open-top automotive icon. Pete Brock put a roof on it and created the Daytona, a much rarer icon. Whoever worked created this design took the top back off and created ... what? It’s not a Cobra, it’s not a Daytona, it’s something else. It doesn’t look

and all the other minor problems that are about to pop up? one at a time, and I’ll either never leave the garage, or eventually sell it on as an almost-finished (!) project.

The optimist in me looked online and finds M117.968 complete engines for sale anywhere from $695 to $3000. Labor for a competent mechanic should be about 18 hours, so perhaps 72 hours for me.....

What I really want is a car that looks like a cobra, but runs on modern, more efficient, more reliable, safer mechanicals with modern suspension geometry, and heck maybe even an airbag or two in case I get too enthusiastic putting the modern torque to the test.

Cars like the cobra are works of art. They are beautiful

I don’t have a problem with the longer wheelbase, I’m slightly taller than average, and my belly brings steering wheel way closer to touching than it ought to. What I am worried about is the ‘70s era Corvette mechanicals, frame, and suspension. If I want a replica, I want it to be mechanically SUPERIOR to the

WTF? I mean WT2? Why on earth would this be two wheel drive? CP for being a pretender to being a functional SUV. And for the fact that it’s mother dresses it funny.

Put the UV air freshener to the test.

The title is clean, the car is filthy. It averages out to someone else’s unwashed laundry. Not interested.

Is the price half nice, or half crack? it’s all a matter of perspective.

Love these cars, but I think the price is a bit high. reluctant CP.

I’ve always wanted a Porsche, but I never could afford one. Still can’t.

I hold that a 4-seat convertible should be a daily driver. VW’s had an insulated top, decent heat in the winter, decent AC in the summer, and top-down-wind-in-the-hair fun whenever you don’t need heat or AC! Damn nice car, still way overpriced!

Is that a camper or a solar oven? with exposed, uninsulated aluminum all over, and no ventilation to speak of, it’s essentially a giant solar heat concentrator. Great for roasting prime rib, terrible for housing living beings.

Damn nice example. Just too damn expensive.

No, you don’t buy this car to un-embarrass it. You only buy it if you can embrace it’s particular blend of cluelessness and look-at-me. Then you rock it like you have no shits left to give!

I wish I could vote twice. The price is nice, but everything else about the car is the epitome of crack pipe.

Seriously nice. Absolutely a special E30. Just not 38K Special! Reduce the price by a factor of 5 or even 10. But at this price, I’m afraid CP. Too bad, because its a beautiful, beautiful car.

I really, really wanted to NP this car. I love these, and they are an important footnote in automotive history. However, for an ‘88 compact hatch with 292K miles, the price is just too high. Drop it $1K, and it’d be NP all day. At $2500, sadly CP.
