Thanks! From now on I'm gonna try to get the thread up ASAP and then respond with my thoughts so it can be more of a blank slate for all non-book readers.

What I love about Emmerich's performance is it's "blank" but he's emoting with so many tiny movements that reveal his character's inner turmoil.
I sure do think that's what eventually tips off Stan - seeing Paige's self-defense skills in action, or hearing them secondhand from Henry.
That's ALL he was seeing as Alexei read him that note. If Alexei doesn't read him that note, he throws that tape away. Then again, if there had been no reason for the note in the first place, maybe Phillip doesn't go totally off the edge.
Tuan is neither of those things. He's a promising young field agent with a surprisingly firm grasp on the nuances and subtleties of human beings. He's just headstrong, stubborn, and unable to see shades of grey when it comes to judging his own decisions and the decisions of his colleagues.
It's amazing how well they've written teenagers in this show to be actual teenagers, who are in many ways pretending to be grown-ups - but caricatures of what they think grown-ups are supposed to be, with very little regard to nuance.
I've thought for awhile now this finale is gonna combine the Sopranos-esque familial ramifications with the out-of-control unraveling of the Breaking Bad endgame.
Yeah i am pretty sure Stan's spidey senses started tingling at the end of her pitch.
Oh shit the guy from Kings is the co-creator?? I loved that show! I was so bummed when it got cancelled.

That weirdly felt like Elizabeth trying to be sympathetic to me. IMO for Elizabeth the more she treats Paige like a mentee the closer she feels to her.
I think you're right if you take it on face value, but I think the extent that's true for Tuan is relegated to an intellectual understanding, and a shallow one at that. He, like many teens, is making an impulsive choice with abandon and minimizing the future consequences is. I'm sure when he left that family in…
Agree, I think the word people are looking for is "catharsis."
Yeah no argument here. What a profoundly frustrating and unsatisfying viewing experience.
BCS this season is markedly slower than BB ever was.
I love this show but both BCS and Breaking Bad rely much more on plot machinations than Rectify and especially more than Mad Men. What made MM eps satisfying when nothing was happening was they were still collections of short stories tied to a theme.
Great points. Thanks for the response.
Hey, this was a pretty dumb thought i had
A show is bigoted when it represents the bigoted beliefs. The philosophy of the show is singularly feminist, the the world inside the show is what is sexist. You can't make a show that's world is aggressively racist, then center it around a white person, without making the show also racist. If there's no clear…
