Does anyone else think Anson Mount looks really weird clean shaven and with short hair? I’m so used to seeing him as Cullen Bohannon.
Not sure if serious. In any case, the ride is in no way meant to be historical. It is based on the Douglas Fairbanks and Errol Flynn pirate movies of the 30s and 40s.
I think it’s supposed to be the sword Aragorn carried as Strider, before Anduril was reforged.
It needs to be binged. At only four episodes, you are best off treating it like an animated feature. As some have said, the animation isn’t always great and some of the dialog is weak, but I had fun with it. The voice acting is probably the strongest part of the show with lots of names that you’ll recognize.
I read once that he actually did audition for Batman ‘89. I agree, he’d be great.
Disney has been sanitizing the entire concept of pirates since 2003. That’s fine. If someone made a realistic pirate movie it would be 120 minutes of boredom, followed by one scene of brutal violence and rape, followed by the pirate protagonist being hanged. I was going to be upset about the change for nostalgia’s…
I’m finally playing Bioshock: Infinite (I know). I’ll probably finish it tonight or tomorrow, then I’m thinking maybe VTM: Bloodlines.
I’m in. Only beef was the graphics on the super old game console looked too high-res and I’m already over Jack Black as popular teen girl. I mean, I’m not going to buy the action figures or anything, but I’ll probably catch it on Redbox and I probably won’t hate it.
I didn’t start reading HP until shortly after Order of the Phoenix came out. Prior to that I had seen the first movie, but that was it. I was 19 or 20 and doing some military work that basically consisted of driving a truck through the woods for a few hours a day and camping the rest of the time. I got through the…
Moscow (mosque-oh) Idaho always confused me when I lived in the NW.
I went there once during the year I lived in Wichita. It’s pretty impressive, more so since it’s in the middle of nowhere. There’s also a really good rocket museum in Alamogordo NM that is worth checking out. Another great museum in the middle of nowhere, but it’s only a couple hours from Roswell, so you can get your…
I love self-referential humor, particularly late in a TV show’s run. The fifth season X-Files episode Bad Blood is the best example of this and my all-time favorite episode. It’s a Rashomon where Mulder and Scully each try to tell their side of the events leading up to Mulder shooting an alleged vampire and it…
The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition
Also, the US has a long, sordid history of spending money on stupid stuff. Then when it comes time to pay for something important we “can’t afford it”.
I grabbed a copy of Shadows of the Empire on GoG’s May the 4th sale. First time with the PC version. Cutscenes are animated (poorly) unlike the N64 version. Controls are pretty dated, but it’s playable. Still fun, nice walk down memory lane.
Spaced Invaders!
My 3rd gen Kindle Keyboard with lighted cover is still serving me well. I do most of my reading with the light on and only have to charge it every couple of weeks. I read about 2 novels a month to put it into perspective.

I understand that older fiction is going to depict race issues differently, but “In the Vale of Lost Women” is so blatantly racist that I stopped reading Conan stories. Like the earlier stuff I read was overly concerned with race, but that story had Conan (who at this point has faced monsters and all kinds of demons)…
