I recently replaced my 15-year-old mattress with a new one. I got a plush mattress that felt great in the store but feels much firmer at home. It's a little disappointing but I do sleep much better than I did on my last mattress and my shoulder doesn't ache anymore when I wake up.

What's the best way to back up 30-40 gb of mp3s? Right now I'm using an external hard drive but am intrigued by online storage.

Ah, so you don't know a real winter then. :)

No heat? All winter? You. Are. Brave.

Ah, I get it now. Not sure how I missed that. It doesn't take more than a few minutes for water to boil, so is it really going to save that much time then?

How about "I would drink it, but only if I had to"? Can I cook with that wine?

That. Sounds. Amazing.

I'm willing to try this simply because my kitchen sink is small and I have a helluva time trying to clean my giant pot in it.

Anyone have a recommendation for a good car charger for the iphone? A lot of the name-brand ones seem too expensive. Can you use those cheap USB car chargers with your iphone USB cable?

I signed up with a new web host for my employer's web site, and I want to design a new Wordpress site before taking the old site down. Is there an easy way to build and preview the new site on the new host before taking down the old site on the old host?

Gizmodo recently wrote an article about how Hotmail was improving and deserved a second look. Now this? Happy to see Gawker blogs going against the tech-nerd grain and writing the honest truth about Microsoft.

This is a great list, but I think this part should be emphasized: "Dr. Adalja recommended washing your hands several times a day, singing the 'Happy Birthday' song twice while you're at it, and avoid touching your face."

If you find out, let me know. It's the latest annoyance in my Facebook feed.

I was excited to pick up generic Drano from the dollar store, but it didn't work at all. I had to break down and buy the good stuff somewhere else.

If you're an aspiring writer, remember that Slaughterhouse-Five was published when Kurt Vonnegut was 46. That thought has kept me sane more than once.

I just scanned my Docs and Settings subfolders in WinXP and it came up with a list of hundreds, if not thousands, of email addresses. I don't recognize 95%+ of them. WTF?

Don't be too attached to your ideas. Most of the time, even if you have a brilliant idea, the powers that be will shoot them down. If all you care about is a paycheck, get over it and do what they say. It will make everyone's life easier. If you really want your voice to be heard, find a place where good ideas are

Thanks for reminding me that it kills the battery too. I looked at Verizon's data calculator and it seems like there might be months where I'd be worried about data usage from streaming (like if I'm on the road a lot or on vacation). Not worth it.

This couldn't have come at a better time because I'm going to get my first iPhone and am debating between the 64 gb model and using all my own music, or just getting a smaller model + a streaming service subscription to keep things easy.
