Is there any reason to think that gay men won't assume that a young woman is an admin? Or even that other women won't? How about just "the patriarchy is the worst".

Did I say anything that defended her actions? NO.

Women are more sensitive and likely to make a fuss? I hope you're trolling. Even presuming that to be true (which goes against the whole ideology of femininity, which dictates you should be a nice girl and keep it all inside): is it absurd that women don't like it when male coworkers talk about female coworkers'

Use whatever semantics you want, it shows poor professional judgement on both their parts.

She slept with her mentor.

As a heterosexual man:

Ugh, grow the fuck up. (not you, them.)

"The organiser of the dinner, Chi-Hua Chien, denied saying women would "kill the buzz", but conceded that the dinner was a male-only affair."

Outcome never mattered in the long run- it was the shining a light on these practices and having thousands of women stand up and say "me too" "it happened like this". Also the testimony of her adversaries was pretty damning. One of them saying she had a "female chip" on her shoulder, and when I mean damning- I mean

I was doing my master in a tech field and sometimes it was FUCKING sexist hell. as you say people who deny how it is are either lying or delusional. I have highest respect from Pao.

You say "no" when they ask you to do demeaning tasks? I knew it, totally not a team player.

I can't tell, but I really hope you're not excusing this behavior, just explaining it?

Just because you're off the clock doesn't mean it's okay to start sexually objectifying your co-workers. :\

The thing that bugs the crap out of me is when women in these suits are all "women in *blank* industry". And it's like only women in their industry face discrimination. Like in her tweets, she says she wants to inspire women in the venture capital industry, or in this article they specifically reference the tech

Hell, I get that now in the nonprofit sector, with men who are my equals in position routinely asking me to do administrative work that is explicitly not my job and that they've been told is not my job over and over again. I can't prove that it's because I'm a young woman who "looks" like an assistant, but I can't

And this is how sexism, homophobia, and racism work. You've nailed it.

Putting aside the merits of the case for just a moment, they admitted that they were throwing male-only parties for clients? Mad Men shouldn't be a how-to guide for modern business practices.

Ugh, my ex-wife was a part of that industry for a while and it can be brutal. Whenever a group of people (men) would meet at the office of her employer, it was automatically assumed by most people (men) entering the conference room that she was there to get their coffee and treats.

Why was there a male-only dinner? Was it like cocks-out or something? I haven't been keeping up with this case, but I'm sure KP is guilty as hell. Those tech people are insane chauvinists.

Legal outcome aside, I've no doubt that she was subjected to such behavior, and anyone who denies that such things are relatively commonplace in countless types of workplaces are either lying or delusional.

Gender discrimination is quite difficult to prove in court, not difficult to experience in the workplace. Hopefully this case will at least make the next challenge to the status quo a success.
