They put that thingy to replace the side marker when you get a model with the side mirror lights. Maybe a neat badge would’ve been better.

I don’t think my Mirage looks ugly, especially with the 15" Mini wheels... Also, it’s reliable, economical, I have a fantastic warranty, it’s spacious inside, not complicated.
