I've always had a little difficulty with Onion. There seem to be two levels to his character: a meek nonverbal kid with very weird interests and idiosyncracies, and an outright dangerous juvenile delinquent who does terrible things because he's bored. These aren't totally irreconcilable, but they do stand at odds with

You're misremembering her. She was talking about a new voice actor she wanted to work with for a new character, that voice actor being Uzo Aduba and that character being Bismuth.

It's currently up in the air whether it's going to be renewed or not. I'm kind of hoping it will, not because I still watch it or anything, but because I don't want to see the fandom throw another fit about being invaded by bronies.

Casually stepping out into the dating pool like that? This was a low-key episode but it's a sea change for Pearl's issues with Rose.

This show is not great at following up on secondary pairings.

What's the ship name, anyway? Mystery Pearl?

Ocean Town's really the Cleveland of the Delmarva area, isn't it?

I don't know, but Sinbad (who played Mr. Smiley, a similarly marginal role) left the show at some point in S1. Joel's going to be pretty busy with the MST3K reboot, he might not have time for the show anymore.

On that note: does anyone else wonder if the reason we haven't seen Mayor Dewey for a long time is because Joel Hodgson left the role?

I was surprised at just how unimportant the music came off in the scheme of things. There was no big marquee musical number or anything, and even the snippets we hear are pretty low in the mix.

This was a great episode, but it would've been even *more* fun had Pearl gotten arrested and sent to jail, only to meet up with the mystery girl again there.

I actually thought it was the opposite. Sapphire's future vision sees things as totally unchangeable but at the same time when she's wrong it's generally about something to do with her own fate.

Yeah. I like the Boardies, but I feel like they're beginning to stagnate a little because they seem to be isolated from the rest of the show.

I… don't really think so? I support fans doing what fans do, but I don't think if it weren't *this* show anyone would be assuming that's what the creators were going for.

That'd give us ~37 episodes, which is how many they went through last year. I think we're out.

The problem with that one for me is that it leant too hard on foreshadowing. It's an Amethyst song that's really about Pearl, so it doesn't feel totally natural for where she's at and how she normally expresses (or doesn't express) her feelings.

Well, without even looking at the comments you should be able to tell you're not the only one. Eric pointed it out in his review.

It's a lot lighter on character work than the rest of the arc. I probably should've picked another example but I'll still defend what I said.

There are things I miss about that era of the show. The best episodes from that era are self-contained, satisfyingly plotted and do a lot with a little— I could imagine them being 11-minute plays. Nowadays the show's a little looser, less somber, and more cartoony. You have action setpieces like "Super Watermelon
