I think part of why the show's taken so long to fully introduce its main villains is because the staff don't want to introduce an enemy without making it have emotional resonance for one of the characters involved. The Kindergarten reveal was intimately tied up with Amethyst, the big finale setpiece was all about

Yeah. Most of the worldbuilding in Season 1 was effortless and intuitive. In the episodes you mentioned, you can kinda hear the gears turning in the background.

In fairness, the Crystal Gems are all kinda shortsighted in that way.

I don't think Peridot's going to join the Crystal Gems full-time. My opinion (which hasn't actually changed as we've seen information start to collect about upcoming episodes) is that she's probably going to go back to Homeworld and be their "gem on the inside", out of a sense of either guilt or allegiance. We've

The uncommented-on huge impact crater reminds me a lot of Ooo.

Yeah. What I said was a little ambiguous and/or offensive. I mostly mean that Homeworld's idea of "exploitation for natural resources" is far more extensive (and harmful to life on Earth) than any colonial empire.

My first thought was of colonialism, actually, although Homeworld doesn't appear to even treat humanity that well.

Matt Burnett's apparently already responded to that. It is a clip from the show, although apparently not from this week.

That's some seriously bizarre worldbuilding.

And another called "Beta", which now appears to refer to the Kindergarten we just learned about.

There's a Gem base in the middle, too.

A few little predictions that I will list here. I haven't seen the previews so don't spoil it for me.

It's probably just networking. Deedee and Jennifer Paz (also Filipino) worked together in the same musical, for instance.

Wait, isn't Pearl *literally* white? Or are you talking about the voice actors?

The same company was responsible for localization in all of Europe, IIRC, so that might have something to do with it. And localization tends to err on the side of caution even when it's not the best idea.

Cartoons have probably gotten less creepy since the 90s. Haven't you ever caught reruns of Courage the Cowardly Dog?

The one part of the fanbase I will never understand is the people who spend all their time complaining about stuff being off-model.

Yeah, this is maybe the only action/adventure show I can think of where the romantic elements are hands-down the best part.

Katie Mitroff, as well as Hilary Florido, seem to favor a somewhat more chibi-fied style than the other boarders. (They boarded those "Classroom Gems" shorts.)
