Man, looking at the upcoming episodes I seriously have to wonder if they just used up all the cool supernatural hooks in Season 1 or if they're just saving them for later on. I mean, we have minigolf, then we have sock-puppets and Soos falling in love with a girl from a dating-sim? These sound like bottom-shelf Buffy

I think that appearance is interesting because it's one of the only times he's appeared without an over-the-top punchline

Also, I think Alex Hirsch voices too many characters.

It's Keith Ferguson— the guy who voices Deputy Durland.

Yeah, it's not appearing in any list of new episodes. Plus, it doesn't really seem like something the GF crew would use as an episode title anyway

I really doubt a character that made Alex Hirsch say "anything you like about her is a projection you've invented" is really going to be a love interest for Dipper.

What if the gnomes come back?

You've got a good point here, but I'd say that Dipper *is* the show's protagonist. He's the guy with the interest in the town's overarching mystery, and the guy who tends to instigate most of the supernatural hooks. I agree that when it comes to their relationship, neither Dipper or Mabel should be more important than

That was one of my favorite parts of the episode. A lot of comedy shows (like Bob's Burgers) have male middle-schoolers cracking jokes about tampons or bras, but if I got anywhere near a bra when I was 12 my reaction would've basically been Dipper's.

You're a visionary!

Yeah, it's a real thematic point in the episode that when Dipper stops looking at Wendy through girl-o-vision, he realizes how useful she can be and how much she cares about him.

Well, if you're not sleeping tonight, you can always get a victory breakfast!

Now I'm imagining Twilight Sparkle checking off a "List of Things to Do Before Gravity Falls Premiere" checklist.

I dunno. I'm not really on-board with the idea. But it is worth noting that he probably has the most screentime of anyone outside the main cast, and has a lot of aptitude in mad science. On the other hand, if anyone were to be a red herring, it would be him.

Fiddleford H. McGucket.

…Free Pizza Guy?

Yeah. It's great because it's not just a way to freak out Dipper, it's a decent plan of escape too.

I love how the moment Dipper invites Wendy to do something that isn't hanging out or an attempt to awkwardly angle for a date, he figures out they have pretty similar interests and complementary skillsets.

I only realized in retrospect that the shapeshifter's initial form had only five fingers.
