I just posted above, but I'm pretty sure that statistic is wrong. UNICEF says Indian women have a 1 in 140 LIFETIME risk of dying in childbirth, which is admittedly still awful.

Okay, that "1 in 5 statistic" is WAY off - please provide a citation for it. Women in India have a 1 in 140 LIFETIME risk of dying in childbirth, according to UNICEF (scroll down and look for the maternal mortality ratio). It's still not good, but it's nowhere near that bad.
I am shocked — shocked! — to learn that my father leaving my mother and me when I was nine for a woman half his age might have negatively affected my ability to trust and form interpersonal relationships. SHOCKED, I say.
This is not the first time he's done something dodgy with guns: before the shooting he held a campaign event to "Get on Target for Victory in November! Help remove Gabrielle Giffords from office! Shot a fully automatic M15 with Jesse Kelly!"
So maybe there's hope for him yet!
One would hope that this experience would make him consider not only how he chose to present himself to the world (through his Tweets) but also the political forces with which he's chosen to align himself. I doubt it, though.
Hmm, I'd have to look into that — I could see that happening, but in my experience (recognizing that anecdote is not the plural of data) the kids who had accidents tended to be the ones who got their licenses on their 16th birthday. This was 16 years ago, when my state didn't require you to spend any time with your…
Well, you can work to reduce traffic injuries by regulating how teenagers drive — increasing the age at which teenagers can get permits and licenses, requiring driver's ed or that they drive with an adult, mandating that they can't drive with other kids in the car, or at night, or use a cell phone while driving. I…
That baby clearly had something delicious for lunch.
Whenever I read something like this, I wonder about the relationship that "men's rights" "activists" have with their mothers. I suspect they don't get along.
Someone had posted pictures from a Thomas Kinkade calendar in the bathroom of my old office. I could never figure out if they were genuinely trying to decorate or making an ironic commentary.
Not to mention that every responsible dog owner I know who uses a shock collar has tried it, at the setting they plan to use on their dog, on themselves first. Whereas I suspect the people in the video above have never experienced what they're doling out.
Jeez, you'd think an anti-choice Republican would know how to sit in her Hooters costume like a LADY.
True. I should not be surprised that the KKK's solution to non-white grandchildren is "shun them!"
How do they think people get "nonwhite dependents" if they don't date or marry "nonwhites"?
I lost faith in the American electorate when they elected George W. Bush twice. I disagree with Romney on everything, but he doesn't scare me like Santorum does.
I can't be the only one amused that NIP means "nursing in public."
Somehow, I don't think Michelle Obama would describe Barack as mischievous.
That's true — I imagine they'd consider sarongs to be distressingly revealing.
Humanity isn't static—you can't just be okay with all development up until the invention of the "sarong, and then declare all post-sarong technology to be "unnatural.""
