I had one of these as a rental car. Overall the car was fairly decent. BUT, the CVT in it was a complete train wreck. It was always in the wrong RPM’s at the wrong times and the tach would bounce around while it tried to hunt for where it was supposed to be. I mean it was just awful, so bad in fact that I would never

Nice try with taking a stab at Trump there, but this car is here legally. Big difference. Trump is only concerned with illegal immigrants.

Neutral: Should Anyone Go Diesel Right Now?

Good luck with that. There’s over 10,000,000 Remington 870’s in existence (the most produced pump action shotgun ever), most of which are in the U.S. That’s only 1 type of gun. The government doesn’t have the manpower or resources to take everybody’s guns. There’s just way too many guns and not enough time.

Neutral: Should Automakers Get Into Car Sharing?

It’s way better than a Prius and probably gets near the same gas mileage, but that’s not saying much because being better than a Prius is not even remotely difficult. NP. Old Hondas are cool.

Volkswagen cost cutting? What a surprise. They’ve used plastic impellers and housings in their water pumps before for crying out loud.

What bothers me the most about it is that they moved the GMC logo up too high on the grille. It just looks goofy now. They should have left it in the center of the grille.

Sorry, I didn’t like chemistry much in high school. NOx is obviously what I had in mind.

Probably so. The U.S. government loves to play favorites with GM.

It’s quite ironic really. I knew the whole time that they would find out that VW wasn’t the only one. They were just the first to get caught with their pants down.

No. Hell no. That is all.

Supposedly the nitrous oxide in diesel emissions is a known carcinogen, so that’s what all of the fuss is about.

Ugh. Those chrome bars on the higher end models go way too far across the grille. It is tacky as hell! I’m not sure what trims have what grilles, but the grilles with the holes at the end of the chrome bars look so much better than the ones that go all the way across.

Find a mechanic who is able and willing to put the car back to stock parameters (although I really doubt that would be easy to find someone who’s willing to do that), or use third party software to tune it and know an awful lot about ECU’s, or get a performance chip and potentially make it even better than it was

Forgive me for going off subject here, but how often do you change your Kinja username? I’ve seen 3 different ones out of you in the past week! It’s quite amusing, I enjoy it.

I agree. People cheat the system with modified cars all of the time. For the record, I don’t own a TDI and I’ve never modded a car to the extent that I have to bolt stock parts back on it to make it legal for emissions testing, but I definitely don’t blame TDI owners who don’t want their cars messed with. If they

Congratulations! You just said the dumbest thing I’ll hear this week. Military > EPA. Do you enjoy living in a safe country and having freedom? If you do then I would suggest that you watch where you say things like that.

Just get the recall done if you have to, prove you had it done, then reverse the recall. Problem solved. They don’t have to know what happens after you proved you had the recall done.
