This girl looks like nearly every girl I dated in the 80's, a Duranie. Oh how I miss those times.....

Agreed, however, I maintained it is not the average street thug/thief, but the organized crime syndicates they sell too that is of the most concern. If you read the full thread, you'll see this, mentioned many many times as most folks don't take the time, like you, to read the full thread.

It's not the size of the ship that matters, but the motion you put into the ocean. :)

I look forward to 1 Logans Run Circle's opening and watching, via a GoPro, the first runner to be captured and vaporized.

Actually, that works with iOS7 as you can see from the video. I'm not sure what else I can say. If you don't believe it works, that's fine, but the facts respectfully disagree with your beliefs. I could do this same thing with my phone today. It's the same way Apple fixes bricked phones. It's quite common. Call

The video simply shows you how to restore iOS7 through DFU mode in case of a bricked phone. You can restore it to the original software or an older version of the software.

I agree about Touch ID as well as the use of lock screens. My original comment had to do with those things not preventing theft but giving security to the data on the device. However, even that data could be compromised with a Cellebrite machine. But, the stolen iPhone is likely more valuable than any of the data

And you can enter any id on your list. I have at least 5, I'm sure organized crime has more.

The lock screen won't prevent theft for the same reasons you think it does prevent theft, in other words, thieves don't know what they are doing or how it works. It's not the thieves you need to worry about so much but if you are in a large city, the thieves know whom to sell stolen iPhones to, namely front shops of

Actually, you can easily install any version of iOS without having the authentication code or turning off Find my iPhone by using DFU mode. You can even install an earlier version of iOS if you chose. This method works in the lock screen as well. This is the same method Apple uses to restore bricked phones.

I agree, you are mistaken. This also works from the lock screen

I'm not aware of iOS7, nor the 5s, as anymore secure to the methods I've outlined than previous iPhones. The only way to make it worthless to a thief would be to eliminate the ability of the phone to be reset with a backup or reset to factory settings. If Apple were to do this, then it would render the phone useless

I believe we agree.

On iOS you simply send a message through iCloud to the device giving instructions. It bypasses the lock screen. It will even beep to alert you if you have the phone on silent.

Of course, we haven't even touched on this yet:

Reminds me of this:

I agree with everything you wrote, except one thing. I never wrote that it does no good to set a lock screen. I said it does no good to deter theft but is worthwhile to deter someone from snooping on your phone, especially for the things you mentioned (i.e. Amazon, Paypal etc.). One feature Apple could easily

Actually, its quite easy and you can bypass all the security features by booting into safe mode, installing your own iOS backup through restore. It's not the thugs stealing your phone you need to worry about, its the organized crime fronts that purchase the phones from those thugs that know how to bypass all of the

I agree, run of the mill thieves probably don't. It's the organized crime folks who purchase the phones from the common thug in places like NYC that knows how to do these things.
