The Zoom storyline is the BvS of the Arrowverse. A few interesting stand-alone ideas, with insufficient attention (and time) devoted to developing them and poorly-articulated motivations. Aside from being a rehash of Wells-Thawne, on paper, the Zoom-Garrick could have actually been interesting.

Totally agree.

Idris and Blair wouldn't have worked for the Time Magazine controversy. Maybe Boris or Shemar, if they could pull off the glove scene or tonight when OJ is giddy about Cochran "proving" that he was framed.

I think that Captain Singh is engaged. (In the first episode where Barry time travels to stop Weather Wizard, his fiance visits him in the hospital.)

Yeah, I was going to add that point about complexion as well. I could see a Terry Crews for example pulling off CG Jr.'s characterization and being more physically imposing, but the Time Magazine thing disqualified him.

I don't think that people would have given Ant Man or GotG a pass, but they're also much more obscure properties, were introduced further along into the MCU, and exist more at the periphery, so I don't think that they would have had that big an effect on the MCU and perceptions of its sustainability either. (I mean,

Even IM2 has a 72% "Fresh" rating on RT. (I think that a little bug in how people use RT's system it that focuses on the up-or-down preference rather than intensity, so a movie with a lot of "okay" reviews gets perceived differently from a more divisive movie that might have roughly the same critic rating on average.

You're right, and I think that CG Jr. is playing exactly the way they need/want him to. E.g., the reaction to the glove, "discovering" that Fuhrman "framed" him, etc. A commenter on another episode mentioned that there was some basis to the notion that despite CG Jr. not resembling OJ's stature (or voice), his does

My thoughts exactly. Man of Steel is basically if Superman 2 took place the day after Clark got to the Fortress of Solitude in Superman 1 (but with updated special effects), plus a side of X-Men anxiety about the "other." If someone doesn't think that works as an origin story, fair enough, but some of the character

1. If the conquest is that inconsequential, then maybe Rip's the one with some additional 'splaining to do.

Maybe Rip has some additional 'splaining to do then. If Savage's rule is truly that brief and inconsequential, Rip should know that , having been a time lord and all. And if he knew that, wouldn't the best strategy for Rip be to figure out a strategy to save his wife and son and let Savage's empire run its course,

As far as I can tell, Reverse Flash never mentioned Savage's Conquest of the world when he (RF) was 15.

I enjoy this show well enough, but,

That I don't know. My understanding is that Professor Zoom/Thawne had surgery to make himself look more like Barry in the comics, they could be doing something like that with Jay/the Rival.

Maybe, but I don't think that it's ever been established that Earth-2 Flash initially had a secret identity and then revealed himself for us to assume to Zoom was getting in fake speed mirage fights with himself to begin with. And if no one ever saw the real Flash anyway, why assume his name when going public if

The only thing is that IIRC, there was a flashback to Earth-2 at the beginning of the city, not told from Jay/Zoom's perspective, where the Flash showed up, no mask, look like Jay/Zoom. So presumably Zoom and Jay resemble each other, because Wells-2 recognized Jay as his world's Flash.

Jay and Zoom existed, pre-breaches, as distinct characters on Earth-2, and Wells, while suspicious of Jay in his capacity as a speedster, seemed to recognize him as Earth-2 Flash, so presumably Zoom and Earth-2 Flash resemble one another.

There was a third-person omniscient flashback on Earth-2 involving Wells-2 and the Flash, and Wells-2 recognized Jay/Zoom as the Flash of Earth-2, so it's established that the Flash of Earth-2/Jay Garrick looks like the person we now know to be Zoom.

Fair enough re your comment, but there are still people making the argument!

People keep bringing up the Hunter Zolomon thing, but wasn't it Jay who revealed Earth-1 Hunter's existence to Caitlin? If there's some kind of elaborate conspiracy going on with Hunter, Jay, and Zoom, why snitch on himself? He might as well have said that Jay was one of the people who died during the Earth-1
