My theory has always been that if they’d just called the movie “Mega City One” and positioned it as an original dystopian action flick it would have done better at the box office.

He’s definitely not doing an impression, IS good (better than Hackman ever was in the role), and the similarities in his madcap villainous scheme are intentional character continuity.

I’ll be your DH. That’s been my favorite superhero movie since I first saw it.  It’s majestic.  A little off-putting at times, but mostly glorious.
