Best EV for a cheap skate?

I’m a writer & no Victorian prude by any means, but the consistent use of vulgar slang (other than satire) can often be an indicator of a less intelligent author & make one skeptical of the subject matter.

Vancouver BC uses a 23\77 Salt/Water liquid spray. Some interior towns have gone to a magnesium based de-icer.

My first visit to a Buc-ees was a letdown. It’ll probably be my last. Somehow they’ve managed to make one of my favorite foods, a pulled pork sandwich, bland and boring. There was no extra sauce available, but maybe that’s best. There’s no tables or chairs for dining, so you have to eat it standing or sitting in your

The Taco only gets 24mpg with the hybrid, which is pretty disappointing honestly. The Maverick gets between 35-40mpg and is cheaper to buy

Unless your purchase is primarily dictated by cost . . .” For many, if not most potential buyers, cost IS a big part of the equation, especially when looking at midsize pickups. If funds are virtually unlimited, those lucky buyers will, most likely, be looking at their full-size options.

Seriously. Is anyone paying a markup on the Nissan Leaf? If so it’s gott’a be the only electric car that’s not tanking in sales.

If they fired their CEO, it would solve a lot of the problems Tesla is facing.

It is hard to believe there is a markup on any Nissan.

Bring BYD here and watch the prices drop like a rock.

On the cost front, there’s NO reason why LED headlights need to be as expensive as they are. LEDs are cheap as hell, durable, and the lights should outlast the life of the car.

This list is incomplete. You can help by adding all cars presently for sale.

Will gas eventually reach that point, probably, but also it will be DECADES before we get to that point, or where no one is using an ICE vehicle.

In Detroit “Stanley Cups” mean something different and DO get hauled around a lot and probably in nicer cars than the Yukon.

Every car should be either a hybrid or plugin hybrid right now

The start stop on Tundras shakes the crap out of you. It's actually jarring how bad it is. I hate it. I drove my mom's Hyundai and it was fine. I didn't hate it. It really comes down to how well the manufacturer executes it.

As I already said, that one is just a rebadged Toyota BZ4X, so it’s not really a Subaru.

Agreed. 10-15 years ago this essay would have been spot on. But right now it just seems like Subaru has been resting on its laurels for the last dozen years. How in the heck does it not have even one single EV or hybrid car (save the badge engineered Toyota BZ4X) in the year 2024?

Maybe contrarian take: Subaru is in trouble. It only offers slightly differentiated crossovers (plus the Impreza and Legacy) that they’re working overtime to get every last MPG out of. They used to be in the best MPG fleet wide because they had no trucks and big SUVs but they are woefully behind on adopting even

Correction: Subaru knew it could pander to people’s sense of “I’m a rugged individual”, or their feelings of “I don’t really care what I drive, as long as it’s practical and AWD”, or their satisfaction that a PZEV badge on the back means it’s environmentally friendly even with thoroughly mediocre fuel economy.
