If you’re a kid with not that much financial responsibilities, then you can deal with a lot of the bullshit. Tends to be why fast food joints and retail tend to target teens/college students: These jobs are considered stop gaps and not “real work,” therefore these companies can justify paying their employees low wages.

The problem with this conversation is that I think a lot of people view this question through the lens of DBZ Abridged, which really ramped up the whole “Goku bad dad/Piccolo Good Dad jokes to the point that they’ve essentially become ascended memes that even the official anime/manga sometimes makes similar jokes.

I thought it was announced that P6 was in the works.

Is it a grift? Nah. But I think what rubs me the wrong way about the game, is that it encourages the notion that “if fans just give us more money, than that will make a better product.” Which, as we know, is not true. All the money in the world can be put into a game, but without proper management, it falls apart. And

Yeah.. all of that

For a good portion of TLOU, I felt it was just a substandard zombie game backed by some strong performances…

I mean yeah...but this is absolutely in the same ballpark as “Quiet breaths through her skin” or “Actually the loli is a 3,ooo year old vampire.” It’s lore bullshit that’s an explanation for people’s fetishes.

Honestly Id rather they were just honest about it at this point.

The economic issues are deeper and systemic, but people are more interested in demonising anything that “devalues” workers’ skills than discussing the underlying problems around tying livelihood to work in the first place.

But that’s actually kind of bullshit. Right now there are people who can and have made anime or cartoon shorts without the need of a company or a group of people. That Dragon Ball Legends short that people went crazy for like a year ago was made by a single person. Video games that are created by one person or a small

lol

That’s precisely it.  People forget that game journalists not only have to meet game deadlines, but are also playing several other games at the same time.  This becomes even more of an issue with games just being longer.

Says the guy who’s assuming any excitement for new tools is motivated by corporate greed.

See this is exactly what I was saying. You’re making the exact same argument that Crypto bros were using to justify their bullshit. That the march to technology is moral and righteous regardless of the potential problems it might cause. The only real difference is that AI is more concrete. But it really is the same

  • There’s the plagiarism issue, which is an issue with how the tech can be used (ie. how models are trained) - that’s the bit that regulation would address, as you note”

Oh stop. You’re no different than conservatives who stick to Twitter just to troll the libs. You’re not above this, you’re just as addicted to the outrage as the people you claim are. You couldn’t leave even if you wanted to.

I don’t understand people like you who seem to not only openly embrace mediocrity, but damn well see it as a virtue.

I have to imagine it is, because it’s either that or it’s people who would have shat all over NFTs unironically making the same exact arguments that crypto bros were using. It’s pretty fucking gross.

Because while they both are about AI. They are two completely different things contextually.

CHRIIIIIST THAT’S NIGHTMARISH.

It’s the same exact narrative that crypto bros were using to hype NFTs.  Anyone who was against NFTS were old or part of the elite and trying to keep “everyone” from making money.  The stuff for AI sounds similarly the same.
