Here’s the thing I’ve always noticed about all these would be revolutionaries, new age philosophers, and people looking to “tell the truth” and/or “clear their name” who believe what they have to share is so important to the world. They’re never ones to put out their scribblings for free, even when they’re already

I think there’s misinformation going around that the company sells natural hair care products.

The “best” are the ones that wrote something like “it ruined my hair” despite the fact that it’s not even a hair care product.

All of these reviews that start with “I’ve been using this product for years” and end with “I can’t believe how racist they are!” are about as believable as the dipshits who show up here with a 5-minute-old burner account and fire off three “as a liberal Democrat [...] this is why I’ll have to vote for Trump” comments

And it sounds like this person came to Ortberg asking for help, not wanting to act on their desires. So not only did Ortberg endanger children by encouraging these sleepover trips, he harmed the parishioner who had come to him needing help to do the right thing.

Like, the former King of Belgium was just caught having to admit to a secret daughter. lol And do we even want to talk about Monaco?  Come on, dude.

I’ve known some great youth pastors but yep, the position does attract a lot of harmful people: people who deliberately seek out a youth position to predate on children and also people who are immature and just want to be “one of the kids,” which often leads to inappropriate boundary-crossing.

My read is that Ortberg equated pedophilia with homosexuality as well as gender dysphoria, so his take was that the parishioner was trying to get better but Lavery and his wife weren't, since they transitioned. "How can you understand someone trying to fight their immorality when you decided to embrace yours" type of

I find youth pastors to be extra manipulative pieces of shit.

Damn. I just listened to the latest Dear Prudence podcast and was wondering wtf happened that Danny was suddenly estranged from his whole family right before his wedding. Obviously the rest of his family has taken the father’s side‽ ugh

I’m glad to hear there are now therapists willing to work with people who have sexual thoughts about children but do not want to act on them or harm anyone. For a long time I feel like the subject was so taboo that even people who desperately wanted help were shunned by trained professionals who feared their

dear lort, there are levels upon levels of fuckery here

Oh, totally agree that their weakness as a team was that Farai should have been given more control (and the edit very much foreshadowed that).

They were weak in 3/4 of the challenges they participated in. The one where they did well is the only one where Kitty let Farai take the reins instead of always calling the shots. Kitty was overconfident the whole time and never took on board the judges’ largely valid criticisms, and she didn’t listen to her own

Same here, I didn’t really get a lot of the love they had for Angel/Minju early on but their styles probably just weren’t my cup of tea.

Language is important. I’m glad you noted the change from “streetwear” to “luxury sportwear” because I didn’t notice it when watching but it really brought into focus that the judges didn’t understand the culture behind the design, nor the destructiveness of appropriation.

I wish we’d seen the entire conversation,

So a big part of the conversation was the disparity between streetwear and luxury sportswear. They’re not the same thing.

Yeah, I never understood how Alexa became a thing. She’s super boring and derivative.

Plus combined with the fact they had been in the bottom a couple times before, they probably should have gone home anyways. There were a lot of times I didn’t necessarily agree with the judging, but that’s kind of what happens on a reality TV competition...
