How sad. In a perfect world we would be demolishing warehouses to make way for race tracks. A man can only dream right.

Man, just for once I’d like to hear about a new track opening rather than an iconic one getting closed to make way for unrelated developments. They’ve gotta be out there...somewhere...
Yeah, access would appear to be a big hurdle, and maybe make it a non-starter. At least the way these appear to be conceived. If you made an aircraft from the ground up to accommodate these, then maybe.
There are a couple reasons why this concept is more realistic than building out the above cabin space for passengers in the 747 (or other widebodies that are just as wide and have just as much underutilized space at the top of the fuselage).
That’s the economy. More people working, more people making more things, building more things, driving to work, etc. is going to increase a lot of things. Wages, raw material usage, finished product output, emissions, etc.
You honestly believe that in one year, industry across all sectors of the economy have implemented more CO2 producing mechanisms? Not to mention Obama was President in 2016.
I’ll give you that! While I’d always keep a vehicle with a steering wheel, I won’t buy into autonomy until I can sit back and not pay attention to the vehicle or my surroundings.
Neutral: I’d much rather be actually driving than sort-of driving while also babysitting a nagging robot.
Am I the only one who hates Alcantara? If you actually drive your car, it ends up looking awful on the steering wheel and seats, and is just seems like a waste as a headliner. Plus, it’s just microfiber... excuse me, Italian microfiber. La dee fucking da.
Good. Alcantara sucks. Give me real leather any day. We’ve already murdered the cow to make steaks and hamburgers. It’s OK to use the leather - the cow doesn’t need it anymore.
I think Alcantara on any surface that is touched by a human is disgusting.
Aren’t there other companies that make Alcantara like material? Also, someone’s head should be rolling if their production is so low that they have to turn down 1/5 of their possible business. I mean, I know you don’t want to have a ton of extra capacity sitting around, but turning down 20%? If the sales numbers are…
This shit is impossible to clean. I paid extra on my car to avoid having this stuff on the seats.
Thing 1: Alcantara is just polyester and urethane. It doesn’t last like leather, and it doesn’t wear like leather. After a few years it generally looks like hell. It’s a scam that it’s so stupid expensive anyway. That’s marketing for you.
Just another brand name.
I don’t get the appeal, it seems rather difficult to clean? Then again, most cars that have it are expensive enough where owners probably aren’t detailing their own vehicles.
This seems like the classic case of marketing something to create the market. I’ll never understand why a synthetic microfiber suddenly became associated with “luxury”. I personally do not like it for seats, as it is too grippy and gets warm. It also leaves weird ass prints in your seat.
“If you are just now learning that there is no naturally lime-green leather, I am sorry.”
Those seats look like a nightmare to try and clean.
