The “Obama” target for 2025 was good intent, but it was also overly ambitious. I hate to say it, but Trump administration was right to cut it. However I sadly doubt the trump administration will replace it with something reasonable, they will probably replace it with something much too lenient that the next

The biggest issue here is California thinking its the god damn Federal Government. Ive lived in CA for a great amount of time and the biggest thing CA cant understand is that everyone and everything DOES NOT WANT TO BE LIKE YOU and that EVERYTHING YOU HAVE ISNT BETTER.

They might hate it, but they only hate it because you’re right and there’s nothing that can be done about it.

Actually, the German car companies just change the exact same amber part to red for the US. They probably think it looks better and I do, too. They could just leave it amber if they wanted but they don’t.

Has anyone ever noticed that the foot rest in the Jeep Compass next to the brake pedal has a message in Morse code?

Allow me to preface my rant with a bit of personal info: I have two jobs. In one, I teach driver education for a private driving school; and in the other I own a technology education, troubleshooting, and repair consultancy specializing in audio visual, information technology, and network integration and

This system should not exist.

Because you are supposed to be monitoring the system the whole time and steer the vehicle if it’s going the wrong way (which is exactly what this driver did in previous cases)? You don’t wait until it warns to start paying attention. If every Tesla owner with autopilot waited for that, there would be much more

I wonder how many cocky Tesla drivers are going to have to become road pizza before the rest figure out that Autopilot doesn’t do everything for you and you still have to pay attention.

If this is true I’m trying to imagine of why anyone would entrust the vehicle in that spot if there was multiple encounters with issues.

Now playing

“Yes, we call it ‘autopilot’ even though it’s a very misleading name and promote it as though it was the first step to a self-driving car, and yes, a father of two children and beloved husband died in our car while it was on, but he had five seconds to pay attention before he died. Plus, the real world wasn’t perfect.

When they say “center lane”, they might be referring to a center turn lane on a non-divided highway, like this:

Key part of the article being missed “Fields was also found to be driving under the influence and with an open container”

The point of these laws isn’t usually about changing behavior, though; it’s about giving police a new basis for pulling over suspicious cars or drivers.

The wording was a bit confusing but I think they mean no driving on the center lane when it’s 3 lanes total. One going each way and the middle lane which is designated for left hand turns or passing.

They were most likely impossible. Also, much like the testing today, it would have been all lab based testing. Just think about the BS around turbo engines today.

I’ve always thought part of the reason full size pickups and SUVs have seen prices rise so much since 2009 was due to CAFE regulations. Raise the price on them to make more profit per unit, but sell less units to help meet CAFE. Apparently people don’t mind paying $60,000 for a truck, so maybe that wasn’t actually why

I for one welcome the disappearance of the teeny tiny turbo engine for a larger displacement NA engine that actually gets better fuel economy under normal driving conditions. Oh. Wait. Toyota already does that.

The other 49 states are NOT able to set their own emissions standards and never have been. They can default to the Federal ones or (since the ‘90s) sign on to the California ones.
