Counterpoint to your counterpoint: Buying a black car was a huge mistake.

This is true. It’s literally impossible to have an ugly shade of blue.
I am thrilled to see dark green returning to many car-makers’ color palettes.
False. I had a black WRX, and it was impossible to keep looking even semi-decent. I gave up and kept it permanently encrusted in a layer protective dirt.
Blue is best. My biggest weakness are blue interiors on modern cars. I still miss the option in the Kia K900.
Some gauges are more necessary than others, and for different reasons.
I was once pulled over going 115 mph in the desert northeast of Los Angeles. It was night, it was dark, and I was unused to driving through deserts (I’m a New York City boy, born and raised). There was no other traffic. I had literally no idea that I was going that fast. If you’d asked me for my speed, I probably…
I guess this was more of a thought exercise than real debate, but I really like having actual, dial-style gauges on my 2007 Mazda 3. I hate digital gauges (especially a center-mounted touchscreen...that’s a deal breaker for me...sorry, Elon).
I would argue the only gauges you really need on a modern car in front of the driver are: Speedometer, fuel, and a warning for oil/temp/whatever. The “you can feel the speed you’re going” argument is a stupid one, and having to take your eyes off the road to know how much further you can go before being stranded (a…
Tires Mushy, Pressurize Soon
I learned to take Andrew with a grain of salt when he suggested on camera in LA that Jeep had never made full-sized trucks.
Education bubble will be the next thing to implode (hopefully soon). I know of several employers who WILL NOT HIRE folks with high debt or bad credit. They prefer people with experience rather than fresh education.
January 1st, 2018 was a terrifying day for many residents of Oregon, because on that day a law went into effect that…
This! Got brainwashed from 6th grade - 12th that if you don’t go to college you won’t become anything, and if you go they just hand you a great job out of college. Of course the university funded this same principal. Low and behold upon graduation i worked in a factory for 6 months, then answered phones for 2 years…
Yep!
I agree with you. (great discussion isn’t it?) The whole thing is hurting the economy, but nothing is being done about it. Bernie Sanders and the Democrats want to subsidize it. I can’t believe how much money these schools are making. They have it coming in both the front door and back door. Athletics (fair amount of…
I say F the borrowers. Most kids don’t work while in college. Some do and do so responsibly and don’t blow it on beer money. While other kids realize they don’t need the full “college experience” and go to a CC for two years then transfer those ALMOST free credits to the state university. I have no pity for…
Good plan. I finally paid off my student debt in 2017, and aside from a house, I don’t plan to wade back into that pool of quicksand.
This is why I always joke that going to school to become a Finance major only taught me how I was getting royally screwed financially by my university.
Well my original plan was to pay for my next car cash. A raise in interest rates is only going to further that effort. Do you think the Fed will ever figure out how much student loans effed any concept of future debt for an entire generation? I think my biggest goal post student loan poverty is to be able to buy…
