FWIW, a single-edged razor works better than anything else to clean glass. (We used to have a glass-topped stove.) Just make sure that it isn't damaged, so it can't scratch. If you are worried about cutting yourself, grab some of these double-edged plastic razor blades to take care of all but the most baked-on crud.
