You should definitely watch the show in whatever way works best for you! I’m all for that. But, if it helps, I’m reviewing the new season for The A.V. Club and I don’t plan on overlooking its flaws because of the gender of its lead, which actually isn’t something I’m hugely invested in one way or the other.

I’m extremely excited about the reboot, and I agree with 99% of this article. i remember watching the 4th Doctor, who will always be the best, come and fight me. (he was MY doctor. You’ll know what that means if you watch it. Has nothing to do with the best Doctor.)

One of my all time favs goes, unsurprisingly, to The Simpsons:
“Come on Homer, you enjoy Japanese culture. You liked Rashomon.”
“That’s not the way I remember it.”

It’s not complicated—you can explain the joke in about five seconds to someone who hasn’t seen the movie—but if you have, it’s just instantly hilarious.

When the fuck was it established that Andre was fake Oprah’s son? Is that new?

wow they really robbed Atlanta huh? I guess it is the season for it

But THE Christopher Lloyd should steal all the scripts, jump in the DeLorean, go back to the mid-2000s and pitch his idea for a show called Modern Family. Then he could remain the only Christopher Lloyd worth reporting on.

when the dust settles, this comes out as an unconventional, yet effective way to avoid a conversation with jimmy fallon.

The smell of a new game is irrelevant without the manual. The smell of a new manual in bygone days, however....THAT was the ticket. *long nostalgic sniff sound*.

Smells are associated with memory. The memory of receiving a video game (most of which have a very distinct plastic packaging smell, while the manual also has a specific sort of printed, plasticy paper smell) is always a happy one as a child. You are literally receiving a physical piece of fun and it has a smell

Cavill Geralt shows up and fucking beheads Superman

My solution to reconciling all of this was to just treat it as another fantastical element of the setting. If I can buy that a guy can run on walls then I guess I can buy a world where the police deserve the level of trust the game gives them.

Holy shit, I could not disagree with the general anti-metaphysics take in this article The whole psychic battle of wills thing fucking *makes* the climax of IT, the book, for me. One of my hugest disappointments around the movie was the way it turned the battle against Pennywise from something that was really a test

During the monologue, I was wondering how intentional the shading on Gus’s face was... given what we know about how he meets his end.

I always loved how Raimi aped this panel with this shot from Spider-Man 2:

Well, I didn't until you revealed it, ruining the mystery.

Good observations. Here’s how I saw it: it was indeed linked to the flashback, and Mike was struggling to contain feelings of sorrow and empathy (I don’t think he was angry at Stacey - I think he wanted to take on some sort of reassuring/supportive role)... then realizing there was absolutely no way he’d allow his

Look, I’m not a fan of comic book movies, and I’m a film snob, and hell, just look at my name and avatar, but even I rolled my eyes a bit when Hawke invoked Bergman and Bresson.

I mean, if you don’t find this funny then I really don’t know what to tell you. Except that it is really, truly funny beyond pretty much anything ever.

Riley, I hope whichever deity you worship blesses you for your earnest love of The Witcher 3. I’ve played for just under 600 hours over the many times I’ved played it and I keep returning for more.
