It's a modern day HBO show. They have obligatory sex scenes, rapes, blood, 2 characters having a drawn out expository conversation to sweeping strings and a good idea here and there.

They were terrible characters portrayed by terrible actors….that for me didn't help. Their characters also evidently had no superiors or any supervision. Why would they tho?

Hmm. I just wasn't able to care about the emotions and outcomes of robots, and Definitely not about overacted undersold 'real' people characters. Like, the spunky scientist lady(if she was real) who was murdered by Bernard(?)…? Was she such a non-character in hear outside-of-work-'real-life' that NO ONE noticed her…
